What do y'all make of the fact that Rebecca Watson started all this but refuses to become a card carrying a-plusser?

Is there any evidence of false flag participation, or is it just so bad that it might as well be even if it isn't?

These are just cutesy terms for everyday words that A+ uses to separate the members of their herd. It is a popular form of slang in Australia and I wonder if A+ picked it up from Australian members.

The difference being that in Australia the practice is done in fun and hilarity as opposed the vile and disgusting way A+ uses it.

I would say Rebecca Watson is very shrewd in regard to self preservation. She is in a win-win position. Deny if it all falls apart, claim founding member status if it takes off.

Perhaps he's referring to the elevator incident, that's how I read it. But he can clarify. EDIT: Oh he has, since I posted.

Did you know that Rebecca Watson isn't all that sold on A+? She said to me, when I asked her about it at Skepticon, that she's not really into forming a separate label, because she wants to make "Atheism" a safe label as a whole.

When I watched the panel talk with Watson and Dawkins the day before the Night of the Long Elevator Ride, I got the strong sense that the schism itself was inevitable, it was just a matter of which particular events caused the assortment into the Feminist Reform Party and the Evil Misogynist Status Quo.

Somebody's going to hate me for saying this, but Elevatorgate happened where there were no witnesses and we have only Rebecca's word. My mind jumped to Joseph Smith who has no witness to his revelations from the angel Moroni, or Muhammad from Gabriel.

BTW: Rebecca is a self-professed publicity hound.

Even though there's little reason to doubt the facts of what happened in the elevator that night, what ignited this was not what happened, but rather, Rebecca's report of her feelings. It all started because Rebecca was "uncomfortable." For all we know, she may have exited the elevator in smug pleasure that she had an anecdote to use in her quest for attention. It's comparable to a report that she met Satan in a closed room when no one was watching, which led to a horrific witch hunt.

BTW: Religionists are having a field day with this, e.g. blaming it on Dawkins on the insane Conservapedia:

Atheism plus is a faction of atheism which holds to a liberal/progressive political agenda. It developed out of the atheist and political ideology of Freethought blogs and was partly a response to the New Atheism and to the Elevatorgate scandal.

Again, it's time to apply critical thinking to such reports (lack of critical thinking is the A+ movement's fatal weakness).

Feelings (AKA "strong sense") are unreliable, especially if reported after the event which was purportedly prophesied. The brain has a tendency to rewrite its memories of the past to conform to the present. I had a deep woo-woo coworker who always said she felt something was going to happen after it happened and never before. When she reported prophetic feelings before an event, she was just as likely to be wrong as right.

The A+ forum is all about feelings: Feelings someone might troll, might make them uncomfortable, etc., etc.

If Atheism Plus wants to fight misogyny, it should fight religious misogyny. Since it won't stand up against the monstrosity of Islamic misogyny because it's a religion of "brown people," it's a betrayal of the feminist movement and a disgusting bastardization of atheism and should be opposed at every turn.

Atheism Plus still has for me a paranoid stink of False FlagWP, but I think it's more likely they are just imbeciles without a brain cell of critical thinking ability between them.

I was thinking of the story of Bernadette at Lourdes myself but only because I've been there and drank the holy water which not only got me banned from Lourdes for life but gave me the nastiest case of amoebic dysentery I've ever had.

So nobody want's to debate Justin Vacula, fair enough however I had to pick myself up of the floor when I read the laughing coyote going on about how attendance at such an event would be dangerous.

It's not an honest invitation. I wouldn't doubt if any women who rose to his 'challenge' would find themselves swiftly doxxed and targeted. Men too for that matter. Don't trust Vacuous as far as I could throw him.

There are actual safety concerns here. I don't trust them. Not any of them. And especially not justin vacula. It's a trap.

This from a guy who was going on about wearing a big chain around his waist and offering himself up as a bodyguard for those women protesters who had apparently been "doxxed" by AVFM.

Speaking of doxxed, what does that actually mean ? I was under the impression it was hacking into systems and retrieving/publishing confidential personal information, not simply reposting information that was freely available on the internet.

If it's the latter, then I just "doxxed" setar this morning. Holy Crap !!

I have a name, a picture, wordpress, tumblr, twitter, gaia online. I won't publish it but all I have to do is type in one word and you can find it as easily as I did.

I'm liking the slymepit but I haven't posted there, maybe I will but I find the single thread rather annoying. They've got a screen shot of Carmella's flounce, so I won't post my screen shot. I see A+ reopened their list of banned users just to add that ban.

Are you engaging in ad hominem? IOW: conservapedia is suspect therefore the proposition (my proposition) is false? The key here is the proposition. If you are challenging the proposition on the basis of the credibility of conservapedia I will find another but your logic is fallacious.

Do you need me to find another source?
