Vaccine/autism CT discussion

If they had any intent of reasonable discourse I would. They're nothing more than a 5 year old asking cause why 10 times.

It's obvious to all that you ignore the "hard" questions, sometimes by disappearing from the thread for days hoping the question will be forgotten. Or when you are really stuck for an answer, you try derision, such as you did here. The questions asked of you are very reasonable ones- it would be nice if you answered them.

The irony is that you haven't done well on the "easy" questions that you have choosen to answer, often citing evidence that disproves your own position or making statements about biology that are just plain incorrect. I again urge you to listen to what people hear are trying to tell you; they are much more interested in the truth than are the anti-vax sites you currently prefer.

Pretending that the reason he won't answer questions is because the posters asking them don't want reasonable discourse is a pretty shameful lie.

Stop being dishonest and blaming other people for your inadequacies Clayton, and take some responsibility for your failure to engage with perfectly reasonable posts that are relevant to the thread. It is not our fault that you dodge questions and ignore evidence, it is yours.

The moronic concept, in 2012, that you can fat finger foreign matter through the skin without knowing exactly what ALL of that substance is evolving into or where ALL of that substance is winding up and possibly causing damage. Thinking, in 2012, injected substances are easily exited from the human body is beyond insane.

Think about the reason tetanus is so dangerous. :jaw-dropp

Your arguments are becoming wilder. ''Fat Finger Foreign Matter'', great name for a band. Anything you eat and drink is foreign matter. Thinking, in 2012, that vaccination is a bad thing is not exactly sanity. When are you going to answer the questions?

That's why there's a tetanus shot...

And that still doesn't answer my question.

I don't understand what you are saying here. Is "fat finger foreign matter" an actual substance? Or are you using "fat" as a verb? I ask because you used "pedestal" as a verb earlier.

In my line of work, I inject my patients with "substances" all day long. These substances have an effect for a few hours, after which they are metabolized in the liver and then "easily exited" via one's urine. It's not "beyond insane", rather it's called metabolism and physiology. Two more things you have little understanding of, I fear.

I think that Clayton is more used to downmarket CT sites where they don't notice mistakes like that.

As an aside, Clayton, I used to think that you were using the "jaw-dropping" smilie too often after your comments. Now I'm sure you are not using it enough.:jaw-dropp

I have an idea: why don't we first extensively test these substances on cells in culture, then on all sorts of different animals. Then we can test them for safety in small numbers of human volunteers (perhaps we can call this phase I). Then test for safety, ideal dose, and efficacy on a larger group of humans in a controlled scientific study (call it phase II perhaps). Then, only if these studies show safety and promise should we test a larger group of volunteers (call it phase III perhaps?) Finally, and only if we know all three prior phases of tests indicate the drug is safe and effective would we allow it to be used clinically. Oh, let's keep monitoring the drug even after it is in use so we can detect and fix any unexpected problems.

Oh, in addition why don't we create an entire field of medical science that focuses on what happens to drugs when they are introduced into the human body? We can call it... pharmacokinetics

Would this type of rigorous testing program adequately address your concerns, Clayton?

By the way- the reason tetanus is so dangerous in a deep puncture wound is because the bacterium is so easily killed by oxygen. Although you've ignored the relevant posts, many organisms are more dangerous when eaten or breathed in than when injected. And many substances are much more quickly absorbed if inhaled than if injected im or sc.

Clayton,

Your dismal view of the current state of biological and medical knowledge is quite far behind the times, as was amply pointed out to you in another thread where you compared medicine and biology to astronomy and other sciences. You may find it useful to review this other thread for the details. But more so, "the proof is in the pudding." Every year people are living longer due to advances in medical knowledge. More diseases are being cured. And people are living longer and better lives even with the diseases that have yet to be cured.

That made absolutely no sense.

That made absolutely no sense.

How about this one:

I just want to ask this one more time, not because Clay will answer, but maybe he'll think for a change:

Even if we were to grant you that vaccinations caused autism is some small percentage of the population, wouldn't the prospect of children dying from easily preventable diseases assuage that risk? Or, to put it another way: Wouldn't the diseases be much worse than the slightly increased risk of autism?

Did you miss this, or just ignore it?

That made absolutely no sense.

To you, I'm sure.

It makes sense to me. It made sense to me when I was taught of these things in school, over 3 decades ago.

You should have used the "jaw dropping" smilie, Clayton. It would have been totally appropriate. Actually, this one would have worked too.

Oh, CM, that HAS been thought about.
That's why there's a vaxx for it.

Now about that twin study?

Iit seems the most likely lead towards finding causes for autism.
That and the flu studies.
Why don't you want to talk about them?

Where's the study of vaccine history of autistic children?

http://www.aap.org/en-us/advocacy-and-policy/Documents/vaccinestudies.pdf

One study published in 2010 was conducted in response to concerns about the total number of vaccines children receive. In this study (the last one listed in this document), researchers found infants who followed the recommended vaccine schedule performed better on 42 different neuropsychological outcomes years later than children who delayed or skipped vaccinations. This should reassure parents that vaccinating their children on schedule is safe and is the best way to protect them from disease.

That's just plain stupid.
