There once was a time, thanks to snake oil salesmen like Eldon Warman and Robert Menard, freemen thought they could escape the authority of the law by using magic words.
But freemanism has moved into a new phase in which all but the most delusional freemen no longer have any expectation of using freeman legal theory to talk the cop out of the ticket, or convince the prosecutor that he’s committed no crime, or win in court.
Now each time a judge or the jury tells them they are guilty freeman cult members tell themselves the verdict is the work of the evil government/commercial court. Other cult members back up this belief via email, in the freeman only forums or over the breakfast buffet at Denny’s.
I theorize that the freeman cult has found in the courts, a public forum in which they can sass the judge, deny the law’s authority and say all the things they have always wanted say to authority figures.
Far from being the root of evil oppression the freeman cult imagines, the courts (particularly those in Canadian) gently listen to freeman rants. This official patience allows the freeman to use the judge, the prosecutor and other court officials as stand-ins for the teachers, cops, landlords and even parents he feels have pushed him around over the years.
At highly censored freeman only forums (which ironically do censor free speech) it is not uncommon to read a freeman wannabe’s idyllic account of the tongue lashing he imagines he gave a judge, or a bailiff, or a cop. High on the juice of hs imagined righteous, angry pay back the freeman is told he did good by key board warrior cult members who live vicariously through his story.
Far from harmless, the need to pay back authority figures takes center stage in the freeman's mind as the lives and often the families of such deluded freeman cult members are ruined.
All the while these modern mavens of "do no harm" palaver in court and on the internet hard earned pay (often the wife's) is soaked up in needless court costs and additional fines, homes are foreclosed, jobs lost, marriages ruined, children‘s needs ignored.
. . .all so the freeman can pay back his cold old daddy for not loving him enough.
