If anybody has the time and/or inclination could you test something out for me? I set up a third party somewhat-facebook-style networking forum on Dysgenics and I want to know if it's a viable home for a False Memory Syndrome Action Network.
Go to Dysgenics.com
Register to the site (upper right)
Get your email with password and log in
you should end up in a "dashboard" -- just click "Dysgenics" at the top left to go back to the site.
Go to the FMS Action Network tab at the top of the screen.
You should now be able to play around in the page
Please let me know if you think it works, or if it's crap.
It's functionality may be a bit less than that of Facebook, but on the plus side, it's not Facebook...

We've restarted the facebook group. Facebook never bothered getting back to us, so we've just gone ahead and done our own thing.

You might want to post a link to your FB account and/or Doug's so people here who have yet to join can do so since it is now private.

No, anyone can click the join button and ask to join. Its just that if you want to add someone who hasn't asked to join you need to be on their fb page.

I joined (again), but given I don't FB a lot, is there any reason a private group cannot get nuked by the FB admins/mods?

Any group can get nuked, but there's less likelihood of spurious reports if the contents are only visible to members.

I merely ask all who subscribe to this explanation as to why the group went down to look at the title of this thread. We are skeptics, we require evidence of claims, remember?

Besides, do you really think FB is going to remove a group and then let it operate under, I could be wrong, the very same name within 24 hours of a take down? To see what FB does with take downs, go on FB and put in "Westboro Baptist Church".

Can we all, please, please put our crowdsourced energy and talents to addressing the topic at hand rather than speculating as to which nefarious forces might conspire against us? The momentum we are gaining, largely due to Doug and Ophia and Strawberry and many others here who have been putting their mental powers and time to work is nothing short of amazing; it's invigorating.

Okay, that's my soapbox song for this morning. Off to the awesomeness of the FB group :)
