I was able to sit in and watch one night of taping for this show, and then I've heard a lot about the studio audience taping a few days later. We won't know what will happen after they edit it down, but from what Mark and I have experienced from the crew, producer and Jeff Probst, it should be a highly skeptical show.

Mark was able to get in many barbs towards grief vampires. We have been begging the media to take the skeptical community serious for years, and finally this host is trying something different. Please support the show by watching.

NBC Halloween 2:00pm Pacific time. Competitors are Anderson Cooper and Dr. Phil, we need to let them know that the skeptical community supports good critical programing.

Just saw this show. Never watched Jeff Probst show before because I thought it would just be another fluff, daytime talk show, but I did today because I'm stuck home with a broken leg.

I was pleasantly surprised! A talk show where they actually discussed and showed how fraudulent psychics are instead of having a psychic on and gushing all over them. They set up Jeff Probst as a fake medium, had Mark Edward prompting him via ear phone, and fooled 3 women in to believing Jeff was a real psychic.

Didn't have a huge impact on the 3 women who had readings - one said that she'd still go to a psychic and one other said that she'd still have a reading "for fun." To the "for fun" comment, Mark pointed out that this isn't just "for fun" it's a huge multi-billion dollar industry that can severely harm people.

Then another lady in the audience said that she was a psychic and gave readings and then tried to state that science has proved that a "life force" exists (she also brought up the familiar quantum physics babble) and Mark responded that "science hasn't proved anything about a life force" and that saying that was so much "psycho babble).

It was so nice to see skepticism actually presented well on a talk show! Bravo!
 
I frequently send negative comments to shows who do a poor job of showing the truth about psychics. It was a pleasure to leave a positive comment for once, though I had to do it on facebooke as their website has no option I could find for leaving such (feedback).

I recommend others do the same so they don't change their tack down the road.
 
I'm dying to see it. I'm in my work lunchroom waiting for Mark to go on. I reserved the TV here yesterday.

There is some child star talking to Jeff now.
 
Something is wrong, the Jeff Probst show is on. Its 2:00 pm but this isn't the correct show. The promos say "coming up next" for the psychic show.
 
It was on in my market. Mark Edward's segment just ended and they have moved on to a hypnotist. The segment was pretty good.

I'm trolling the Jeff Probst show on the internet waiting for them to upload the full show.

I discovered what happened locally though, they showed the OCT 30th show twice in a row. So the Halloween show never showed.

I have a friend with the LA IIG, Brian Hart who made me a CD and when Mark visits for Thanksgiving I will see it. I'm sure I will see it before then.

I'm beginning to think its a conspiracy.
 
Don't own a tv so can't see the show. Not legally anyway :(

Pardon me for asking, but isn't Anderson Cooper closer to our side? He did break the story with Robert Lancaster about Sylvia Browne didn't he?
Or is there a bill mahr issue there too?

Dr.Phil... not even going to bother... yish...
 
I think Anderson's show has been cancelled.

P.S. Is there a reason that they skipped the Hallowe'en show? That seems weird.
 
Thanks for posting the link, Jekyll's Guest. I think it was a good show. Hopefully we will see more skeptical content on Probst's show.

As far as I know, my site "broke the story", the day that Shawn Hornbeck was found.

A week or so later, the Anderson Cooper Show did a segment about it, on which I briefly appeared (as did Randi).

A few weeks later, AC360 did an entire episode in which they examined evidence Browne's people sent to them as "proof" of her wondrous abilities.

The evidence was found...wanting.

So yes, AC has been a Friend of Skepticism, at least inb regards to Sylvia Browne. I'm not sure of his track record regarding other psychics, or other "paranormal" topics.
 
Not so good Robert. AC has proved to be very disappointing with his Anderson show. He have given John Edward a pass many times. Though AC has stated off screen (but there is a video of this somewhere) that he thinks psychics are not real.

Sadly (or maybe not so) AC's show has been cancelled.

Lets hope Jeff Probst can hang around, at least while he is on our side.
