2012 Debates

I didn't watch the debate, I followed it here and on CNN. I predict polls will say Romney won or at best, for Obama, a tie. Romney will be ahead by 5 points by week end.

Yes I'm a pessimist.

Most republicans thought Romney did particularly well in the "color of the skin" portion of the debate.

I am going to miss watching PBS post-debate analysis in four years if Romney wins.

I'd give it to Obama:

1) He needed to come out with fire, and he did
2) Romney got schooled on his Libya answer
3) Romney's answer to how his was different than Bush, was just uncomfortable
4) The contrast came across as Obama connecting to average people, and Romney being an executive.

This is the key point, which is going to hurt Romney a LOT.

Where are our resident Republicans/conservatives? They seem to be sitting this one out ;)

From PBS:

Romney's big weakness: his budget numbers don't add up.

Obama's big weakness: no strong agenda for the next four years.

CNN commentary didn't miss Romney's biggest gaff.

"When Romney was asked about how to get equal pay for equal work for women, he said he had the solution for how to get them home in time to make dinner!"

:D

Well, PBS is saying that neither debater connected well to the audience.

Obama HAD to deliver, and he did.

I'm not to worried, because just like we heard after the first debate, these debate things just don't matter.

;)

I'll speak up if no one else will. I call it a draw at best. Both made decent points and nether tripped on his dick... Have to wait and see how the numbers fall tomorrow.

Obama had a great comeback to Romney's claim that he's a "coal man", pointing out that when Romney was governor he wanted to shut down a coal plant because of air pollution, but why has the Obama campaign been so slow to jump on Romney's other flip-flops?

Ooooh, that's funny.

Obama's big weakness: no strong agenda for the next four years.

Another Romney weakness: no agenda at all for the next four years... at least, not until after the election

I was very surprised that Romney didn't jump on solyndra or the battery company that filed for bankruptcy today.

not much of a play, but better than nothing.

I'm just glad O made it to the 1:18:00 mark before he let loose an "Obama Croak". Can't believe it took him four years to fix that. In any un-teleprompted talk he gives, he croaks out those those annoying vocalized pauses. He let a couple out on the gun control response and one or two more towards the end. So glad he got a handle on it. Really makes all the difference in his message.

I'd say, even accounting for my bias Obama took the night, but nowhere near the shellacking he took in the first debate.

Well, I think that Romney has actually been more forthcoming with sparse agenda details than has the president. Take a look at the debate...attacking Romney for his plan, discussion of the past, but few future plans espoused by the incument.

Pundits are claiming that Romeny needs to hammer that fact hard, and lay off China for a bit.

CNN: We're going to be very interested in our scientific post debate poll.

I'm thinking they need to read a book or two on sampling.
