I'm taking Meclizine for what might be an inner ear infection.

It's messing with my sleep and I'm debating taking a sleeping pill. But I'm wary of adding a CNS depressant on top of another one. But it's been ten hours since I took the last pill and I'm on a minimum dose (25mg) so it doesn't seem like it should be a problem.

Travis, an internet forum, no matter how skeptical or rational it might aspire to be, is NOT the place to be looking for medicinal information. Do your own investigations and come to your own conclusion.

Thats one for your doctor or nurse assistance line. It depends on the sleep aid and contraindications.

As if such a thing exists for me.

After much googling and not seeing much I chanced it and it seems I'm still alive.

Meclizine is used for motion sickness and vertigo. If you have neither, why take it?

It is the best thing for sea sickness, at $4 per 100. Vs $12 / 8 of the name brand stuff. I kept a bottle on my boat. Non drowsy, not like the antihistamine based preventatives.

So maybe a Benedryl could both prevent vertigo, and get a good night's sleep?

I did have vertigo. For over a week. So I went to a doctor.

In the end I took some Ambien and got a little sleep.

As an aside, Travis, your location is "Tuolumne City, CA" but both Mapquest and Google just call it Tuolumne. Is your version the official name?

You won't need the information again? Like tonight?

I've taken Meclezine for the same reason and it is nasty stuff, I agree. All I'm saying is get professional information. There's probably a nurse's hotline or poison control center you could call.
