Julian Assange: rapist or not?

I put the full quote there, then repeated what seemed to be the pertinent point.

I will requote what I posted before so you can tell me where I got it wrong.

The last part isn't a quote. It's opinion, and it's wrong in this case.

So no, he was not under arrest when he left, and there hasn't been an arrest warrant that was removed. However the first EAW (nov 26th) was missing information, and a second one was issued on Dec 2nd.
Ah, apologies, yes, there was an arrest warrant issues by the on-duty prosecutor that was canceled the day after (aug 20-21st). But there was not a new one issued until it was not possible to setup interviews with JA, and he left the country.

"
Legal myths about the Assange extradition

Four: “The Swedes should interview Assange in London”

This is currently the most popular contention of Assange’s many vocal supporters. But this too is based on a misunderstanding.
Assange is not wanted merely for questioning.
He is wanted for arrest.
This arrest is for an alleged crime in Sweden as the procedural stage before charging (or “indictment”). Indeed, to those who complain that Assange has not yet been charged, the answer is simple: he cannot actually be charged until he is arrested."

Here's the author of the above article (Green), in 2011, saying that Sweden indeed could question Assange in London:

or Sweden may decide either not to continue or to interview him while he remains in England.

lol

Greenwald does an outstanding job taking Green to task right here:

Here is an excellent account of Assange's trip to Sweden, mostly informed by the Police Protocol I referred to above and other sources. A useful resource; well worth familiarizing yourself with if you're interested in grasping the factual nitty gritty of the case.

An often surreal tale emerges!

Poked around a bit in that police protocol today and wondered how a friend of A conducted the interview with W and apparently tampered with the evidence ... looking forward to getting a bit more structure into it on occasion.

You do realize you had to repeat it in order to place the quote here? You didn't place any words distancing yourself from what that quote claimed, ergo, I concluded it was a claim you agreed with, and you were repeating it.

I'm now confused as to what you think, because your rebuttal to my comment that you're continuing to repeat an untrue claim, simply says 'it', apparently indicating you agree with my assessment that it's an untrue claim. Or is that just careless wording on your part, and you do think Sweden succeeded in its extradition claim because it just wanted to question JA?

ETA: And if you still think you're not repeating, what was the purpose of extracting just that quote from the BBC article and adding no additional commentary?

The point is that there is conflicting evidence. For example, the claim that the US is after was said to be a baseless, paranoid fantasy. But I have provided evidence that it is not baseless. He could well be guilty of rape.

Yeah. IN SWEDEN. Which is a country a couple thousand miles away from the US, and which has a far stricter extradition treaty with us than what we have with the UK. How exactly does that translate to the US is after him, which is what I assume you meant to say?

I'm saying his paranoid state of mind might have some basis in reality.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Fanatic subtype.

From Wikipedia;

Fanatic narcissist – including paranoid features. An individual whose self-esteem was severely arrested during childhood, who usually displays major paranoid tendencies, and who holds on to an illusion of omnipotence. These people are fighting delusions of insignificance and lost value, and trying to re-establish their self-esteem through grandiose fantasies and self-reinforcement. When unable to gain recognition or support from others, they take on the role of a heroic or worshipped person with a grandiose mission.

Perhaps, but the article I linked to has evidence that the US is planning to take action against him.

I think the Assange-baiters are as much responsible for creating in Assange an outsized ego and sense of importance just as much as the Assange-groupies.
