Over on a thread talking about Obama conspiracies, Robert Prey has raised the issue of all-American law enforcement official, Sheriff Joe Aspaio. Sheriff Joe, as he encourages people to call him, recently announced his conclusions about the true nationality of the American President Barrack Obama. You may have heard about it. Sheriff Joe has been a controversial figure for a long time because of attention he has attracted enforcing immigration laws in Arizona.

However, as even FOX points out, this is not the only problem the sheriff has had to deal with.

The Arizona Democratic Party says in a statement that Arpaio's investigation is intended to draw attention away from problems within his own agency, such as hundreds of sex-crimes cases that the sheriff's office failed to adequately investigate over a three-year period.

At best this likely a case of well intentioned buffoonery by somebody who believes in his chosen conspiracy and believes he is in a possition to get the bad guys. Comparrisons could be drawn to Jim Garrison. More likely, as we appear to be discussing an elected official, the cult of publicity may be more apt than personality.


Putting the motive behind, and assuming the case was investigated on genuine concerns, then it shows a worrying series of issues in protocol, procedure, bias and quality. I do not think it would withstand much scrutiny if audited by an outside authority.

Since the certificate has been declared authentic by the issuing authority, there is not only no evidence, but no possibility, of fraud. The certificate is by definition genuine.

His job is not to vet serving Presidents, whatever fantasies you may choose to subscribe to.

the fact his 2 "birther" announcements coinsided with major actions in the US case against him were just "coincidences". They were not shallow attempts to distract the public to his long running "cowboy showmanship".

Regardless of whether Joe is doing 'a good job' or not, there is the question somewhere here of what his job really is. His job is defined legally. You can find the legal definition of a sheriff in Arizona here. It does not state that he is empowered to investigate the Constitutionality of the Presidential election or any one of numerous other actions that Joe has taken upon himself to enforce.

There appears reason to believe he is not doing this.

So while one can say that Joe is a super patriot willing to break the law and violate his oath of office to make 'merica a better place for you and me (I am a Canadian and I live in Taiwan, but I am a White man), it can not be said that he is doing his job well.

Election fraud would seem to be within any law enforcement officer's jurisdiction. That would seem to include an invalid or forged birth certificate.
