Continuation: Discussion of the George Zimmerman case

And still no word on any actual charges or investigation re: the cousin.

Which was answered already by myself a long time ago.

We don't know. They could very well be investigating already, and haven't publicly announced it. They do that sometimes.

Hannity had at least 2 teasers that the child/sexual molestation would be discussed.

Hannity asked Z about it.

Z basically dodged the question and focused on the accusations of racism. Then O'Mara told Hannity to change the subject. Z did not specifically deny it anywhere during his dodge response as far as I can tell. Very weird. You would think the very first thing he would say is that he specifically denies sexually molesting her.

Is the first highlighted true? I thought that the last we heard was that they were not making any decisions until after the trial or something? I don't remember anything about the FBI "clearing Z of any racial profiling [and/or] racial wrongdoing"....

Second highlighted: Does that statement not make much sense to anyone but me?

As to your first question, perhaps not addressing the accusations at all is the best legal strategy. I don't know.

As to the second,

http://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/...-Case-Documents-to-Be-Released-162190305.html

The Department of Justice's investigation — to determine whether the shooting was a hate crime — is still open. Justice Department officials told NBC News they have no plans to pursue charges while the state's murder case against Zimmerman is proceeding.

Perhaps at some point an agent said to him 'no one we talked to says you are a racist, you should be fine' or something to that effect.

He dodged the question about remembering the conversation where he told a witness "I shot someone", in favour of

HANNITY: When you think back, there was one report or police report that actually said you didn't know after you fired, you didn't think -- you thought you missed?

ZIMMERMAN: I didn't think I hit him, yes...
...I thought he was just so tuckered out from bashing me that he decided to take a nap, face down."

This would be HIGHLY unlikely. I've done some investigations before (nothing like this) but say if someone was suspected of burning down their house, and a few months into my investigation I still hadn't pinned down exactly the cause, and still had more work to do, I would NEVER tell a suspect that. NEVER. I might tell him "We haven't uncovered anything yet, but my investigation is still ongoing." or something to that effect, but I would NEVER tell a suspect that he should be fine, or that I didn't expect to file charges, or anything of the sort.

I am fairly certain I recall " I wasn't sure I hit him " from his initial police interview, so I don't think this is a change. I'll try to dig up a time stamp.

I meant post wise. Over 100 posts since my post to your post. That's what I meant by a long time ago. Sorry, should have been more clear.

I agree with you.

It's the ones who have made the claim that it was investigated that I am waiting for information from.

Ok, gotcha.

I will agree that is someone claimed the investigation was complete, they'd be misinformed at best.

You've got to think that Angela Corey spent the evening sipping champagne. Wow, what a disaster for George.

First, he actually says that he wears his gun all the time, every time he goes out, except for work. Really? You mean all those times you went on "patrol" for the neighborhood watch, you carried your gun, George? Against the explicit rules of NW? So even if he claims that THIS time, he was just "on his way to Target", what does he answer to the obvious question...

But Mr. Zimmerman, on those times when you were out on patrol, were you armed then?
Yes sir.
Didn't you know it was forbidden?

So what does he answer, then? How does he explain going out on patrols as neighborhood watch captain, armed? His whole excuse for why he followed Trayvon with a gun was that he carried a gun to the store, not that he went out on armed patrols, which I would hope everyone would agree is reckless for a non-LEO.

His excuse was wasn't patrolling. He had forgotten he was even carrying. He has blown that.

Next, he says Trayvon was skipping, and NOT running out of fear. And that he, George, could tell the difference.

But in the Serino interview, he repeatedly says he can't remember HOW Trayvon ran, no matter how many times he was asked. He just couldn't remember. But now he remembers, and wow, it just happens to be something that makes him look innocent, yet again.

_________________________

He says clearly that he went over to RVC, knowing it was RVC, only to get an explicit street number, not a street sign. He knew the street name after all? So all he needed was a "1,2,3,4" RVC? Again, picture the cross...

Mr. Zimmerman, you spent 84 seconds on RVC looking for that address. So did you see and address as you stood there for 84 seconds?
No sir.
And you never gave an address to the dispatcher?
No sir.
And why was that?

_________________________

He gives the most tortured excuse for not "following".

_________________________

Finally, he says clearly here, again, one punch, broken nose, down to the ground. Does he not realize by this point where the body was found?

I am fairly certain I recall " I wasn't sure I hit him " from his initial police interview, so I don't think this is a change. I'll try to dig up a time stamp.

At that scene he tells Witness 13, the photographer, to call his wife and tell her "Man, just tell her I shot someone." And all the dead bodies to sight would support the statement.

What he chooses to tell the police later has no bearing of him dodging the question of remembering the content of that conversation on Hannity.

And when the question is reput, he again does not acknowledge realizing he hit TM
HANNITY: After the shooting did you -- and you saw that he was laying there, and obviously injured, there was a moment when you realized he was shot?

ZIMMERMAN: Like I said, he sat up and he said something to the effect of "you got it" or "you got me". I assumed he meant, OK, you got the gun, I didn't get it. I'm not going to fight anymore. At which point I got out from under him.

...

But Mr. Zimmerman, on those times when you were out on patrol, were you armed then?
Yes sir.
Didn't you know it was forbidden?
...?
I'll go to bat for George here...

(yeah, I know. :boggled:)

His 2nd amendment rights override any NW rules.

No, it is a change. IIRC, he said that first he didn't realize he was shot, which is why he jumped on the dead kid's back to "restrain" him. But he obviously realized he shot him because he immediately told that to a witness.

In this telling, he didn't even know he was "in bad shape" until an hour later? He was probably dead in less than a minute. And George spent part of that minute straddling him.

I just cannot fathom why people are clinging to this guy's story in this way. It's just a mess.

Upon reading the transcript of the interview, it looks like I misheard some of what Zimmerman said.

I also hadn't heard the part about God wanting Zimmerman to kill Martin.

His 2nd amendment rights override any NW rules.

But that's not going to help him. He is being accused of recklessly pursuing "suspects" outside of good sense.

Just because he could legally carry and patrol at the same time doesn't mean it won't be held against him after he kills someone.

I can legally drive my car, and I can legally eat in the car. But if I put a full dinner tray on my lap and eat dinner on the freeway and I kill someone, then two legal things together would make up a crime.

I learned something new from the interview - that Trayvon was right next to his vehicle and attacked Zimmerman immediately after Z had gotten out, not "when he was returning to it". I also learned that when Zimmerman told the phone dispatcher that he was following Trayvon, he really meant that he was watching from inside his truck.

I'm not sure where this puts the part of the phone call where Zimmerman says "He's running" and there's motion noise and heavy breathing and then he says "I lost him". Maybe he was masturbating in his truck and Trayvon snuck up and was hidden crouched behind the rear bumper, waiting for Zimmerman to finish and step out.

Oh my, if that is what he said, it is not very wise.

The LA Times story says that TM attacked 'shortly' after he got out of the truck alleged by GZ.
http://www.latimes.com/news/la-naw-zimmerman-interview-20120718,0,4171414.story

"When asked to explain what he meant when he told a police dispatcher he was following Martin, Zimmerman said he was trying to keep an eye on Martin to tell police. He said he was not following Martin but attempting to get a more precise address for the authorities."

"Zimmerman said shortly after he got out of his car, Martin was right next to him. Zimmerman said he looked down to try to find his cellphone and when he looked up, Martin punched him and broke his nose. Then, he said, Martin straddled him and started slamming his head down."

Now while I feel this could harm GZ's case evidently O'Mara does not agree.

I can't understand why "they"(his defense team)thought that George doing an interview would be a good idea.
I'm thinking that a person would be better off shutting your mouth and letting the Courts decide.
Are they trying to win some votes in the court of public opinion?

For the record:

Obviously I wasn't there. I'm just stating my feelings on the case.

I can only put myself in what I think are their shoes to try and make sense of it until the evidence and trial.

From TM's viewpoint, well pshyco boy is stalking him and never once identifies himself as any sort of "law enforcement".
I can easily put myself in TM's shoes and pound the living **** out of this guy who is following me. The answer to the question of "what you following me for? is not "I'm not following you" when you obviously are...

If George reached down into his waistband/pocket whatever, I can see where I would consider that threatening.
George gets his ass handed to him. Was TM going to kill him? Only TM knows that.

From GZ's standpoint, he's a Watch "Captain" and he see's what he thinks is a suspicious person (for whatever reason he has decided that he is suspicious) and starts following him while calling 9/11. Seems ok so far.
Fast forward to confrontation, get's popped in the nose, goes down, is getting beat pretty bad.

Has George ever been in a fight before? Ever been down and get pounded? It's not nice and can be very scary I guess..could easily be in fear for his life.

Bang!

Self defense? That's for the Courts to decide. Difficult case.
