Continuation: Discussion of the George Zimmerman case

Why are you asking me that??

Also you left out a tiny part of your question:
So, how often do you punch someone in the nose when they have been following you at night for no apparent reason with no one else around and then they reach into their pocket right after you ask them if they have a problem?

Why did you leave that part out?

So, if that part is put back in, do you punch them in the nose?

So, if that part is put back in, do you punch them in the nose?

Again, why are you asking me?? Even a poll of thousands of people wouldn't work.

You would have to ask people that have been in the exact (or nearly exact) same situation.

In the aftermath of police shootings, it's called "the suspect reached for his waistband in a threatening manner".

Hannity had at least 2 teasers that the child/sexual molestation would be discussed.

Hannity asked Z about it.

Z basically dodged the question and focused on the accusations of racism. Then O'Mara told Hannity to change the subject. Z did not specifically deny it anywhere during his dodge response as far as I can tell. Very weird. You would think the very first thing he would say is that he specifically denies sexually molesting her.

HANNITY: We continue now with our exclusive sit-down interview with George Zimmerman and his attorney, Mark O'Mara.

There is this witness number nine, this recently came out and witness number nine suggested that you and your family from a young age had racist views.

And then that was one statement that was originally made, and that then became that from the time this woman was six until she was nineteen, that you had molested her.

ZIMMERMAN: I think that it's actually fortunate that the FBI did get involved, of all people, to investigate a crime. I mean it's the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and they cleared me of any racial profiling, racial wrongdoing. And I think that, frankly, it's ironic that the same -- the only person that they found that could say anything about me being remotely racist, and again, she didn't state that I said anything racist.

She didn't even state that I was in the same room when anything racist was said, but it is ironic that the person, the one and only person that they could find that says anything remotely to me being a racist also happens to be the person that claims I'm deviant.

Is the first highlighted true? I thought that the last we heard was that they were not making any decisions until after the trial or something? I don't remember anything about the FBI "clearing Z of any racial profiling [and/or] racial wrongdoing"....

Second highlighted: Does that statement not make much sense to anyone but me?

Idle curiosity really. I don't think I would, but I'm kind of a pacifist.

The interesting question is whether Trayvon would. GZ's story hinges on whether it's believable that TM would confront him and throw the first punch.

The FBI has not submitted a final report as of yet.

Z talking about being scared, nervous, and terrified in the first few seconds after the shooting:

ZIMMERMAN: No, I knew that I had discharged my firearm, and I was scared, nervous. I also thought the police were going to come and see me with the firearm and shoot me. I mean, I was terrified.

Z claiming he never looked at (and therefore I assume, never touched) M after the shooting:

HANNITY: Did you look over at Trayvon? You obviously at some point recognized he had been shot. You didn't know it at the beginning. Did you look over at him at anytime and realize he was in really bad shape?

ZIMMERMAN: No, sir.

Z claiming that the cops showed up between 15 and 30 seconds after the shot was fired:

HANNITY: And how long was it between the time you shot him to the time the police actually got to the scene?

ZIMMERMAN: It felt like forever. I would say 15 to 30 seconds.

HANNITY: It was that quick?

ZIMMERMAN: Yes, sir.

Z's account of the most important 5 seconds of his life:

HANNITY: Do you remember when you yourself reached for your weapon? Do you remember that moment.

ZIMMERMAN: Yes, sir.

HANNITY: Tell us about that.

ZIMMERMAN: At that point, I realized that it wasn't my gun, it wasn't his gun, it was the gun.

HANNITY: Did he say anything? Because you said he was talking a lot about the gun. Did he say he noticed the gun?

ZIMMERMAN: He said, "You are going to die tonight (EXPLETIVE DELETED)" and took one hand off of my mouth and I felt it going down my chest towards my belt and my holster, and that's when I -- I didn't have anymore time.
HANNITY: Do you think you acted more out of a conscious thought? I mean, I know these events happen very quickly. Do you remember conscientiously thinking I have to grab my gun or did you just do it? Was there a conscious thought that went through your head that you thought you were going to die and that you had to take this -- you had to get your weapon and fire?

ZIMMERMAN: I'd love to give you an answer.

HANNITY: You don't know?

ZIMMERMAN: It just happened so quickly.

ETA:

ZIMMERMAN: Like I said, he sat up and he said something to the effect of "you got it" or "you got me". I assumed he meant, OK, you got the gun, I didn't get it. I'm not going to fight anymore. At which point I got out from under him.

Zimmerman says he didn't find out that M was dead for 1 hour:

HANNITY: Did you know that Trayvon -- when did you know that Trayvon had died?

ZIMMERMAN: When I -- probably about an hour after I got to the police station.

I can't quote the entire page 4, but page 4 is the account of the fight:

HANNITY: How many times would you estimate that he punched you?

ZIMMERMAN: Several. More than a dozen.

HANNITY: And how close is the concrete to the grass?

<snip>

ZIMMERMAN: It butts up into the concrete.

HANNITY: And were you able to get to the grass?

ZIMMERMAN: Yes, sir.

HANNITY: And how did you do that?

ZIMMERMAN: I guess you could say shimmy. He was straddled on me with his full weight, and I would try to sit up and push myself down. And whether I would sit up, that's when he would take the opportunity to slam my head back down and punch me in the head and continue to hit my nose.

Some of this stuff is just odd.

Perhaps.... a day after the news of the decade long sexual molestation accusations, O'Mara gives the media something else to talk about....

Smart lawyer?

As far as I know, this interview was arranged after that story broke. I could be wrong.

Someone really needs to remake The Crucible, this one is getting ridiculous.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

Yes. He had a CWP issued by the State. He is required to know this information, and is beat into your head quite extensively during the training classes.
...
Add to that something most average CCW permit holders don't have:
--------->two years of coursework in criminal justice.

& just for cherry-topping, his best friend (the federal Air Marshall) the former Seminole County Sherrif's deputy, was also his best-bud shooting partner...

AND

Z went on ride-alongs with cops and engaged with them frequently. His ride-along request stated his reason was: to “solidify my interest in a career in law enforcement.”

AND

A few years earlier in Sanford, there was a headline, all over the place news-story about a self-defense case:

Travares McGill -- Sanford, Florida

McGill, 16, was sitting in a car at an apartment complex when someone shined a bright light into the vehicle. It turned out to be two security guards, who did not identify themselves, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

McGill tried to back out and get away. The guards -- Bryan Ansley, 28, and William Patrick Swofford, 26 -- opened fire, shooting McGill in the back and killing him.

Ansley and Swofford claimed self-defense, saying they feared McGill was trying to run them over. A grand jury indicted both guards, but the case was ultimately dismissed.
True, none of those things assures us he absolutely KNEW about the highly publicized Florida SYG law, but it sure sounds like a lot of hokum to most observers.

Either that, or GZ was pretty. damn. stooopid.

Then again, the more we learn about Zimmerman...

Zimmerman: Trayvon’s death was “God’s plan”

Several times, Zimmerman denied following Trayvon, despite a tape of his call to police in which he said he was doing just that. When he told the police dispatcher that he was following the stranger he found suspicious, he meant he was “walking in the same direction, not actively pursuing him.”

Hannity asked if perhaps Trayvon ran because he was afraid.

Zimmerman said Trayvon “skipped,” and “wasn’t running out of fear.”

Hannity wondered how he could tell.

Good lawdy, lawdy.

Here's the part that doesn't make sense to me, and IMO, doesn't match the evidence.

"ZIMMERMAN: I guess you could say shimmy. He was straddled on me with his full weight, and I would try to sit up and push myself down. And whether I would sit up, that's when he would take the opportunity to slam my head back down and punch me in the head and continue to hit my nose."

If he was hit numerous time in the nose, his nose would have looked MUCH worse than it did IMO.

God's Plan

We shall all be witness to it. That said, when I heard/saw him say that on tv my first thought was it sounded like something a radical extremist or stalker would say.
