Continuation: Discussion of the George Zimmerman case

People: Let's not go making things personal again, and start in with such bickering...kay?

We had this thread shut down to moderation status before. Let's not let that happen again.

Please?

Judge Lester is on vacation until July 27, so it will likely be a while before we get a decision on Lester recusing himself.

Hey! Just in time for Shel.lies arraignment for her perjury charge.

Do you think the name calling helps keep the bickering down and moves the discussion forward ?

So why isn't she pressing charges now, since she's no longer afraid? This is the exact same question btw, and no one has been able to answer it. Perhaps you're confused.

There could be an independent investigation going on, that we're not privileged to know about.

Considering some of the more egregious names being tossed about here, that's a non starter. Shellie Z lied. Shel.lie is very apropos.

Tu quoque.

But let's consider those egregious names ... what are they again ?

And let's not forget, if someone is actually obese, it's perfectly ok to call them fatty, or porky, or other names, right ?

I'm thinking like Trayvon Truthers or Zimmermanistas. I find both distasteful.

I make no remarks about GZ's weight cuz I have been there, done that. I'll be happy to discuss eating disorders with you elsewhere. I have an in depth knowledge of several. I did say he was a short, fat man at some point in the other thread, I believe. That's the extent of my participation in mocking his weight. According to the booking sheet from the night of the killing, he was 5'7" and weighed 204 pounds. Some things speak for themselves.

Oh my goodness, I thought it was a typo.

If you want my opinion when I see things like that; it cheapens the point. I feel like I am reading comments on FB from a 13 year old. ZOMG! LOL! George Zimmerfat. Your argument should stand out on it's own merit, not based on what clever nickname you can create or repeat. Sadly, sometimes it will even mask an otherwise good post.

ETA I just want to make clear, Katie, that you posted that while I was typing this. The George Zimmerfat was in no way singling you out. I don't even recall you saying it. I am just not that clever at coming up with nicknames.

If you need some help thinking up names to call GZ and his wife, just head on over to the justicequest forum. They are really good at name calling over there (unless it has to do with TM, then it's off limits)

I'm 51% angel, 49% bitch. I laugh at things that may not really be funny but I'm human. One of the best threads ever on a late forum was called "Bad thoughts". It was a place to put down something uncomfortable and be done with it. I think it started after September 11.

I'm a pale, white woman so I don't know what it's like for people to be racist to me. I come from sturdy farm stock, short and stocky. Big boobs, carry all my weight from shoulders to thighs. This was sufficient reason to be teased unmercifully in elementary and middle school even though I wasn't fat, per se. Some of it carried over to high school but by then, I was into full on bulimia. When I was 5'3" and 204 pounds, I was a short, fat woman. Not much else to say.

I'm uncomfortable with published lists of what he bought and ate while in jail. I don't care what flavor Pop Tarts he likes or what size underwear he buys. I don't care who he called. He paid for those things, he can use them as he chooses. I only want to hear about anything related to this case.

This case is getting so mired down in useless details, sometimes it's hard to remember why we're here. :boggled:

If you'd like to see some real victim bashing, baseless rumors and racist leanings, head on over to the conservative tree house. Quite entertaining in a sick sort of way.

I can respect that. I think this has just become a supersource of case related links. If I have a question, there's a link here that answers it.

Yep, they are like opposite ends of the spectrum. Wading through either of them requires hip boots. They make one appreciate this forum all the more.

I had never heard of The Treehouse before this incident. They, like any other news (using the term loosely) outlet, have an angle they want to sell. After publishing the alleged victims name and picture, though, I don't care if they are the only news outlet to have the case cracker, I am not giving them the view count to see it.

Isn't the author of the CAD drawing the same person that helped Smith do the field measurements?

Dunno. Would that stop him from being a little sloppy?

Changing the baseline by twice the column width would move all the marker positions significantly to the west except marker #1 which would move northeast. Marker #4 would be pushed several column widths west and would be noticeably misplaced. If the field drawing is incorrect, we cannot know to which side of the pillars any of the measurements were made.

Maybe we aren't sharing the same meaning of "significant".

I'm not talking about whether it is statistically significant in the sense that there is a noticeable numeric variance. I'm talking about whether it is significant in the sense that it would materially affect our understanding of the way the events took place when Trayvon was shot.

Do you believe that the difference in those two sets of referents would cause enough of a difference in the location of the evidence points to offer a challenge to any of the descriptions of what happened that night?

Maybe when I get arround to aligning the photos with the 3-D model I'll be able to resolve this. It's kind of difficult for human error to screw up the photographic record.

Human error can screw up all kinds of things, often in novel and unexpected ways. Across the interface of CAD generated drawings and field generated data I have seen many of them. In my experience, more often than not the problem ends up being on the CAD side.

I wonder where the layout for the building footprints came from in that pg.284 drawing. It appears to have been sourced from some other document. (Perhaps construction contract drawings?)

I wonder if the data set from the total station was imported as a file to generate an overlay onto that plan view, or if the points were added manually by the CAD operator.

If the former then I wonder what method was used to translate and rotate the data set, and match dimensions.

Any thoughts on this?

If the data set was imported then the relative proportional distances between the other surveyed points will remain the same regardless of where those two referents are located. The only thing which will change is their relationship to the building structure itself. I don't think that change will be enough to matter to our understanding of the events in question.

If the points were added to the drawing manually by the CAD operator then all bets are off. There's half a dozen ways I can think of that that could be screwed up.

Hannity scores!

Sean Hannity Nabs First Interview With George Zimmerman, Airing Tonight

by Meenal Vamburkar | 12:26 pm, July 18th, 2012

On Wednesday night, Sean Hannity is devoting the entire hour of his show to his interview with George Zimmerman. Accused of second-degree murder after the Trayvon Martin shooting, Zimmerman is sitting down for an interview for the first time.
According to Fox News, Zimmerman will “open up about what happened the night of Trayvon Martin’s death and his experience in the aftermath of the fatal shooting.”

Because no one signifies fairness and lack of racial bias like Sean Hannity.

Should be awesome.

This is a colossally stupid idea. Anything GZ says that conflicts with anything he has already said or will say in the future can be used against him. Some of Sandusky's radio interview with Bob Costas was played for the jury at his trial. And he'll look even worse if MOM keeps interrupting him: "Did you follow TM?" "Don't answer that!" "Did you try to stop him from running away?" "Don't answer that!" "Did you lie to the judge about how much money you had?" "Don't answer that!" "Were you planning to leave the country?" "Don't answer that!" "Have you ever molested a child?" "Don't answer that!" This raises real questions about MOM's judgment.

Well to be fair, they gave Hannity all the questions ahead of time and edited out everything that could hurt him. I wonder if the outtakes will be subpoenaed?
