Continuation: Discussion of the George Zimmerman case

The reason that particular snippet isn't posted in context is because doing so exposes that they are discussing a security plan between Zimmerman, O'Mara and probably his security team.

In another conversation, they talk about using a hotel to transfer vehicles in conjuction with the vests. At the bond hearing, O'Mara was very clear that his security protocol would require Zimmerman to leave the state and that his electronic monitoring had to be secure.
I don't read it that way. The vest portion was over. And I DID post the link so that people could read the context.

It was a thought GZ had after.

Regards your "O'Mara was clear..." about security -- that happened AFTER that jailhouse conversation, and it was a request by O'Mara. A request, I might add, the judge Zimmernistas like to hate, granted.

Oh, and maybe you can find the part in the Bond hearing where O'Mara said "[GZ's] electronic monitoring had to be secure."

There is no mention of that I can see. O'Mara didn't even know about the GPS -- until the judge sprung it at the end in his granting bond at 150K.

Cool story tho...

"ZIMMERMAN: Best case scenario, and obviously I’ll talk to O’Mara about it

SHELLIE: uh huh

ZIMMERMAN: I'm thinking that we should rent a, uh, an SUV

SHELLIE: Mm hmm

ZIMMERMAN: and whoever comes to pick me up, pick me up in the SUV

SHELLIE: uh huh

ZIMMERMAN: and that way if they run the tags or whatever, you know, there’s nothing to go back on anyone

SHELLIE: uh huh

ZIMMERMAN: and if you can, find a hotel that’s got an attached garage. Remember when we stayed at the um, what was it, the Western in Tampa?

SHELLIE: Mm hmm. Oh, there was a garage.

ZIMMERMAN: Yeah.

SHELLIE: Because our safety council was saying the airport.

ZIMMERMAN: Well the airport’s good, but they can still follow you there.

SHELLIE: Mm hmm.

ZIMMERMAN: But, if we go to a hotel that has a garage, and we tell the hotel, like listen, we’re gonna be coming here and staying for a few days

SHELLIE: Mm hmm

ZIMMERMAN: we need access to the garage. Then, whoever brings me can just go, whoever picks me up can just go straight into the garage and go into the hotel through there.

SHELLIE: Or transfer you into a different car. Have, like my car waiting, in the garage.

ZIMMERMAN: Either or, yeah.

SHELLIE: Because safety was saying that um, he has a bunch of guys that could move in on it.

ZIMMERMAN: In a positive way?

SHELLIE: Oh, yeah, like

ZIMMERMAN: Okay.

SHELLIE: like stop traffic, like stop people from going in the garage at the airport and everything.

ZIMMERMAN: Oh, okay. Yeah, I'm just worried about, you know, if they know what kind of car you drive.

SHELLIE: Well, that’s true. You’re right. They would be looking for the car you went in on though.

ZIMMERMAN: We could have two cars. We could have two rented cars."

Again, talking about the security team, O'Mara and how to get to the airport

and today...cause of his lies...poor Georgie can't set one foot inside Airport property.

Aw.

lol.

Who was the author that said, to paraphrase, that facism isn't forced on people - that people beg for facism?

I wish I could remember the quote...

During that time - as the judge rightly points out - Zimmerman was actively making plans to flee, and the only thing preventing him from doing so was his ankle monitor.

It is therefore a reasonable conclusion that during that time had Zimmerman not had an ankle monitor, he would have fled with his hidden passport and stash of money.

What country was he going to flee to ? When ? With whom ?

GZ actively engaged in some actions, one possible outcome of those actions was fleeing to another country.

I don't disagree that it is a reasonable conclusion he planning on possibly fleeing - I disagree with the conclusion that he would have fled if not for the ankle monitor.

In fact, I think if he were really going to flee, an ankle monitor would not have stopped him. Was there something stopping him from removing the ankle monitor or having it removed and fleeing ?

FWIW, I just called my local Honda dealer. He says:

"If you shut off the ignition and shut off the lights, the lights should shut off immediately".

"If not, there's something wrong with the car. " But this also goes along with the dinging sound. That sound happens when you leave the car with the lights still in the on position but in "auto" mode. In that case, the manual says they shut off after 15 seconds.

I urge all of you to call your local Honda dealer and ask the same question.

I called a friend who is a Honda Dealer and he said that the headlight delay shutoff is standard in all Hondas.

Are you now trying to imply GZ is a political prisoner?

Holy guacamole.

Good point. Since he had no compunction against committing a felony, maybe he wouldn't have a problem committing another.

Maybe he was just too stoopid to know how to cut off without the GPS alerting the authorities within seconds.

Just like water - seeking its own level....

I was merely pointing out that it seems to have, at some point, fallen outside the scope of modern civics or government sylabi to remind people that the system that protects people who you might think should be imprisoned also protect those who you might think should not.

Nancy Grace really needs to start teaching law. I think this country is ready for her.

Trayvon Martin was involved in a burglary? When? With whom?

GZ actively engaged in some actions, one possible outcome of those actions was fleeing to another country.
You are conflating outcome with intention.

Of course there any number of outcomes in which Zimmerman would not flee the country despite the fact that he was planning to do so.

But this is irrelevant to the fact that he was making plans to flee.

I don't disagree that it is a reasonable conclusion he planning on possibly fleeing - I disagree with the conclusion that he would have fled if not for the ankle monitor.
So why do you think he was conspiring to hide money and a passport from the court?

In fact, I think if he were really going to flee, an ankle monitor would not have stopped him. Was there something stopping him from removing the ankle monitor or having it removed and fleeing ?
Probably the cops that would have been alerted when he removed the monitor.

I'm not following you...

How does fascism factor into this case again?

Yes, the airport is a convenient way to leave the state.

No one will provide any evidence other than a passport and moving money, because there isn't any. There is no list of non-extradition states. No international tickets purchased. Nothing.

Could be that he was planning on taking off and just wanted to make sure he left a clean credit report before he left, so he paid all the bills. And everyone knows the way to hide money is to electronincally transfer it to your wifes account, becuase no one would know where the money is in that scenario.

Useless drivel ignored.

Do you knOw the significance of the amounts that they transferred?

So your comment about the people clamoring for fascism was just a meaningless hyperbolic throw-away...

OK. I'm cool with that.

That's the way to have a reasonable mature discussion.

Reasonable mature discussion tends to get left by the wayside once people start willfully ignoring evidence.

I don't recall you being quite so tolerant to anyone who would have suggested that no one had presented any evidence of Martin's involvement in burglary aside from the screwdriver and jewelery.

Way to ignore my question completely.

Here's two for you, one that's been asked (Guessing) 100 x's.

What other REASONABLE reason can you come up with for George to have $130,000 and a passport that was hidden from not only his lawyer, but also the courts?

Do you know the significance of the amounts of money that they moved around? (Which kinda ties into the first question)

Just those two Elvis. Care to take a stab?

This is a feature that I've had in every car, though. I can redo the experiment with my Caravan and my Camaro if you would like, but I think it's highly unlikely that I have four cars with the exact same electrical issue. Did you include the part about turning the lights off after the car is turned off because that is the only thing that makes it work.

Here is the minivan doing the exact same thing
https://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/video/video.php?v=391523114230336
I knew about the feature because my 2001 XL7 also did it.

PS call your Honda Dealer and ask about the headlight delay setting.

I actually think it's kind of awesome that you recorded a demo like this.

So I'm looking around for information about the auto delay feature and I can't find anything.

http://www.manualowl.com/am/Honda/2008-Ridgeline/Manual/678?page=79

Again, looking here, there is no mention of it. So evidence to refute your theory:

1. We hear the ding. The ding, according to the manual, is because the lights were left on in the auto position but the key was removed from the ignition:

Turning the dial to the ‘‘ ’’position turns on the headlights. If you leave the lights on and remove the key from the ignition switch, you will hear a reminder chime when you open the driver’s door.

That's exactly what we hear as George exited his vehicle. This suggests the lights were in the on position, not the off position. You would not hear a reminder chime if you removed the key and opened the door with the lights turned off.

2. The dealer I talked to contradicts your friend, so that's a wash.

3. The manual makes no mention of this feature in a 2008 Honda Ridgeline (manual linked above)

I'm going to call this issue unresolved. Although I still like that you did that demo.

ETA: If the 2008 Ridgeline DOES have this feature, how long, exactly, will the light stay on? I still think we need those two variables resolved before we can tell when, during the NEN call, the lights went out.
