Continuation: Discussion of the George Zimmerman case

By the way, the 22 feet could be referring to the first aid kit, which is item 4 on the evidence list and was found almost to the end of the first house, close to the house. It may not be referring to the width of the lots, which again, Google Maps says is more like 27 feet.

This page is informative.

You need to re-read the calculation. I used the two segments with OM-4 as an endpoint to calculate the base of the triangle - just like the sketch did.

I think Lester will be disqualified, but I don't agree with it. That's just absurd. So GZ should be allowed to lie in court, and attempt to "game the system", and the judge should continue to have to show no bias? I think it shows a reasonable bias.

What would be even funnier, is if a new judge is assigned, he revokes his bond and charges him with perjury. Since any and all motions are up for reconsideration.

Basically GZ and MOM are continuing to game the system. They've lied to the judge, and the judge not will (most likely) be removed from the case. What happens if they come in and do it to another judge?

I don't think that GZ should be allowed to ask for the removal of the judge. The reason the judge doesn't trust what GZ says, is because of HIS own actions. Plain and simple.

Potted palm....I still laugh!!

So 'completely objective' and 'reasonable bias' are synonyms now?

Yeah, who needs due process and that pesky old 14th Amernment, when Nancy Grace tells us that the fat gangbanger is obviously guilty?

Don't anybody have a rope somewhere?

The missing distance is noted in the last paragraph. I think it's closer to 8 feet, but I haven't figured that out yet.

Well, looking at your picture, it's farther than the height of the first floor at least, which makes it more than eight feet. It looks to me like 15 feet, and Google Maps backs me up.

Any comment I make about inaccurate tools will have this thread back in moderation. :)
:D

You're claiming that the dogwalk portion of the sidewalk isn't fairly parallel to the townhomes on RVC? I know the cutthrough winds a bit, but that is irrelevant to the calculation.
No, the distance from the T sidewalk to the homes is longer on the Witness 6 side (where the body was found)

At any rate, I've shown my work and methodology so I invite any specific objections. Otherwise, it's between CST Smith and some old Greek dudes. :P
You're using 29 feet as your adjacent side? I thought 29 feet was the distance to the sidewalk, not to the body, so that may be throwing off your numbers since you're solving for two known sides.

By the way, here is Dodgers' Stadium, and I've placed a line from third base to second base. We know this is 90 feet, and Google Maps is exactly correct.

(If you can't open the map, let me know).

We can all decide how accurate that tool is, huh?

I'm not using 29 feet anywhere. Are you talking about Angle B in the right triangle? That's 29.8 degrees.

Pillar A -> OM-4 = 22.0 feet
Pillar B -> OM 4 = 11.2 feet

Total length of side B = 33.2 feet

That's the length of the west side of the 2 townhomes. 45 feet would have the body in or near the 2 block of homes.

You are 'amazed' that a defense attorney would actually do their job, and be zealous in Zimmerman's case?
At least lay the groundwork for any appeal if needed. And who knows, the judge may be disqualified, which imo he is.

No lynch mob mentality here, nosirree, none at all, at all...
ROFL.

Here's the funny thing about the Trayvon Truthers. They'll invent 1001 theories why GZ has to be lying, why he had to be chasing TM with an intent to catch him etc. All of which are based 100% on assumptions based on 20/20 hindsight. But they apply no skepticism to their theories.

Example. Let's examine this idea that seems eminently reasonable to them in every way, that GZ chased down and cornered TM with the intent of restraining him. Now maybe it's just me, but that is ONE HELL of a gutsy act. Because at that moment GZ thought TM was a suspicious person that was possibly (likely?) a criminal. Criminals are often armed right?

And what happens when GZ meets up with this guy he chased down? He gets his ass handed to him. But wait a minute, he confronted him and was trying to detain him [I almost forgot, he had the 50 pound fat guy advantage ;)], right? Wouldn't any self-respecting gung ho wanna be cop racist hot head have his gun unholstered and in hand if he was going to detain the dangerous criminal? Yet one can say with reasonable certainty he did not, because TM hands his ass to him and only after a minute of fighting is he able to unhoslter and use his weapon, a weapon which I surmise that TM didn't know he had.

Now again, think about it. You are ARMED and chasing someone in the dark that you believe to be a criminal, and you intend to detain this possibly violent criminal! Yet you don't have your gun drawn! Almost leads someone to think maybe he wasn't trying to get right up on them or detain them at all ;).

BTW, would someone PLEASE make the argument that GZ would not have unholstered his gun because it is against the law? Because I really, really want someone to make that argument, after arguing the entire thread what a lawless violent lying hot head he is.

Lastly, I'd feel remiss if I didn't say that I'm not arguing that my theory above disproves the possibility that GZ tried to detain TM, it's still possible.

I've actually seen people get around this problem by saying they think he may have had his gun drawn....but then that just raises the question of why TM wouldn't have mentioned this to the person he was on the phone with.

Can you clarify which one you are calling pillar B?

By the way, I do question the numbers on that chart. My challenge to people here is to use Google Maps and check any distance you know the value of, personally, such as the bases at Dodgers' Stadium, as I did. I found it to be accurate down to a very precise amount. I find it hard to believe it would be off by 20 feet in this one instance while being unbelievably accurate everywhere else on the globe. If you have a distance you know personally, please find an example of Google Maps being off by several feet?

I'm willing to be convinced, but in my tests I don't see it.

Pretty darn accurate. Try measuring something for yourself that you know the length of--it can get it almost exactly.

The Google Earth ruler is not accurate over long distances (e.g. > 5,000 km)

The official stance from Google is that it "makes no claims as to the accuracy of the coordinates in Google Earth. These are provided for entertainment only and should not be used for any navigational or other purpose requiring any accuracy whatsoever".

Pillar B is the rightmost pillar in this image. It is directly left of the tree.

Here's one for OM-7 which is Martin's phone. It's about 27.3 feet down from Pillar A. That's around 7' south of Martin's head.

Thanks, so I think I'm questioning the premise of your numbers. Here's another Google Maps distance from Florida:

http://goo.gl/maps/i82F

That's where the Marlins play. Again, it comes out remarkably accurate when trying to map out the 90 feet from base to base.

Same tool, for the Zimmerman markers.

http://goo.gl/maps/L03g

It puts pillar A to pillar B at 37 feet, and the T to the body at 45 feet.

Here is another way to work the numbers if you don't like trig. Using Google (Trimble) Sketchup, we can create a model. Use the dimension tool to show the distance between reference points and our objects. And then just move the objects around until the dimensions are correct.

Here, I've modeled the location of the keys relative to the end of the building.

Thanks! Can you see what you find for the location of the "attack" and the location of the body and cel phone?

Here are the keys and Trayvon's head.

I'll add the rest of the items later but right now there are demons to be slain.

What I'd like to figure out is why the discrepancy between this and Google Maps? As as wrote above, Google Maps seems remarkably accurate when looking at things like baseball diamonds and football fields. It's accurate to what looks like inches. Yet in this case, GM says a distance is around 45 feet but the map that was drawn up gets you to different numbers which seem about 15 feet off. The map says it's not to scale, but that doesn't affect our ability to use the numbers. So I see three possibilities:

  1. Those numbers are off.
  2. Those numbers are correct, but we're reading them wrong and they are measuring something else or measuring in a different way.
  3. Google Maps is nearly perfect everywhere but on Twin Trees, Sanford FL.
I'd like to understand which of those things are true.
