Continuation: Discussion of the George Zimmerman case

Exactly.

First we aren't supposed to believe Frank when Frank says that he is Z's friend.

With friends like FT

I asked you to provide evidence of their friendship. You claim that I missed all kinds of posts in this thread about it, but refuse to provide any evidence.

Next we aren't supposed to believe the Judge when he says that it will be important for Z to testify at the next bond hearing.

Link, quote ? No one claimed that.

Since when does "important" mean "there is zero chance I will grant bond if you do not testify".

Perhaps it just means it will be a higher bond?

Or perhaps it just means that Z and Z's lawyer will have sunk even lower in the judges opinion in general.

So in other words .. you have no idea how it's important, when the judge says it's important.

And the theme for this day with certain tight-panted posters is:

Embrace your inner minutia.

Apparently MOM had a press conference after the hearing:

Leo Juarez ‏@LeoJuarez
O'Mara expects judge to spend at least the weekend reviewing "8-10 hours worth" of evidence before ruling on bond. #Zimmerman

ETA: Zimmerman Legal Case@GZlegalCase - Not expecting ‪#zimmerman‬ bond decision today.

Obviously, MOM is not Judge Lester, but it may be a good indication not to expect a ruling before sometime Monday.

In the meantime, I understand we should expect the second round of discovery at some point today.

Don't sweat the details ? Just like the court system, right ?

Come on. There's a difference between analyzing evidence for minutia and engaging the pedantry and sophistry we see here all too often.

"Chased" vs "Pursued"?

"Ran" vs "Jogged"?

It's epidemic. Let's cut it out.

And our word for the day is Allocution.

O'Mara tried to do this today, and intoduced this as a condition of Z going on the stand. It's something that happens *after* a trial - and certainly not at a bond hearing. From what I have heard, what O'Mara tried to do today has never happened before. He was trying to set a precedent, apparently. lol.

Ahem:

Allocution is a procedure during sentencing by which a convicted person is given opportunity to address a judge. This is done after being found guilty and before sentence is pronounced. The judge asks the defendant whether s/he has any thing to say on the sentencing. The defendant may request for a less sentence, may make an apology, and may give an explanation for his /her criminal conduct. The defendant need not be sworn before s/he makes his/her address. His/her statements are not subject to cross-examination.

AmEn!

If I were O'Mara, I'd serve the state with notice that he intends to call every police officer and complainant involved in any discrimination cases over the last say, 10 years, just to watch them freak out.

Just curious, what would be the relevancy? Would it be admissible? What would be the point of even posturing this?

Pointing out the elephant in the room isn't always such a great idea, if there are 2 elephants.

If the prosecution is going to open the door by posturing with accusations of racist motivations about George, they might want to remember that their own track record supports accusations right back at them.

!. GZ is not a cop. Why the comparison?

2. Is this a poor attempt at a Johnny did it too defense?

Um....the state is not on trial here, and would most likely not be relevant, nor allowed.

I have a question maybe a medical professional could answer. (tri?)

"Right-dominant blood flow" - does this indicate in any way if a person may be right or left handed, or is it reference to some thing else that has no association with this?

Thanks in advance if any one knows.

Another thought: How would GZ's father have heard GZ scream like that "many, many times?"

::eek:

I just got home and haven't seen anything yet. Did he really say that? It's one thing to feel that you recognize your child's voice but how many "life or death struggles" has his son actually been involved in?

That term describes coronary circulation - the blood supply to the heart muscle itself.
Thank you. I assumed it had to do with the circulatory system, as it is inherent in the term - however, that does not rule out it has nothing to do with the favoring / "dominance" of one arm appendage over another.

I'll wait to hear from some others on this. I thank you again though for your help with the citation.

Yes, he actually said that.

Maybe GZ's dad beat him a lot.

Well I just had a relevant (but disturbing) experience.

I was at the gym and an elderly gentleman was on a treadmill in the row ahead of me and to the left. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed he started "floating" back on the treadmill. I think he may have gotten dizzy or disoriented. So he hit the back of the treadmill and fell backwards and hit his head against the treadmill behind him and landed on the floor. His head hit the plastic casing around the machine.

He opened up a wound about the size of a silver dollar and started bleeding pretty profusely. We called 9/11 and I rushed over to help. The gym has a lifeguard who came in to administer first aid. Looking at the wound, it was about twice the size of the one on George's head. And he fell one time.

Take this in whatever way you will.

Did the current balance in the trust fund ever come up? All I heard was that it was in a trust with restrictions but those restrictions were not specified.
