Geological and archaeological evidence for/against the flood/CTE

didn't I just explain to you the reason why the denser plate subducts ?
would you like me to explain it in simpler terms ?

You need to explain the Mariana trench - neither plate is continental

I didn't say it was straw man
why don't you go back to the link you provided as evidence which didn't support your contention and show me anywhere it mentions buoyant rock
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariana_Trench

Odd you dont mention the other link I posted in the same post. You know the one that talks about the buoyancy of rock

you don't seem to grasp the concept that there was never a global flood, or that the Magi were fictional characters, or that the Church you belong to is sexist, or that the Catholic church didn't claim that parts of the Old testament were allegorical until 2005

More hand waving to produce a smoke screen. Feel free to show me a post where I said the Flood occurred. Its a label you seem to want to throw around at anyone when you get in a corner. Six months ago I was a creationist a few weeks ago a fundamentalist. What am I today?

What are you claiming? It was only a partial flood? Or It didn't occur?

I have made no claim whatsoever in my time on this forum regarding a Biblical Flood. I have discussed possible origins of the myth pertaining to the Middle East, but nothing beyond that

I'll try again.
So while there are other issues to be dealt with - The volume of water needed is not one of them
MG1962, what do you see as being the most troublesome issues concerning a global flood that Bible literalists have to deal with?

We agree that is a myth. Good. Why do we need catastrophic plate tectonics to explain something that never happened?

I am sorry who made that claim? - Could you point me to the post please

Voila!

Still nothing to refute the problems with CPT? Can you admit that there isn't anything that would change your belief? Evidence apparently doesn't do it.

Since faith is believing things you know ain't so evidence has nothing tod do with it.

Wouldn't that just empty the oceans and then re-fill them. It doesn't explain the extra water required to cover everything and where it went afterward.

No as I mentioned in my earlier post there is more than enough water in the planet to do it. The mantle down to about 180 miles can have a water content as high as 15% by weight.

But as I said, for creationists thats the least of their problems. The volcanic activity alone needed to produce that much water in 40 days would effectively destroy the biosphere on the planet, and you'd have a really good chance of ending up like Venus.

there you go again making excuses to explain that theres enough water on earth to create a global flood to the height of the tallest mountains
ridiculous assertion

please link to your source for 180 miles deep 15% water
:D

Sure after you address my points on buoyancy and the Mariana Trench, then explain your claim I believe in a The Flood after showing you were involved in a thread that said the exact opposite

And I am surprised you asked me about the water. Thats exceptionally basic science. I am sure Google will help you out.

Why don't you just save everyone some precious time and energy and just tell us what you're saying, then ?

Exactly what I said - Lack of water is the least of the Biblical Flood problems. Apparently in some people's minds that translates to support for a Biblical Flood. Tends to be a common issue around here, knowledge of something translates to support for it. Sloppy thinking I know, but thats just how it is

People who try to explain the glaring contradictions and fallacies in the Bible remind me of fanboys who try to rationalize and explain plot holes on inconsistencies in comic book and scifi movies. I literally met someone who tried to rationalize all the dumb stuff in Battlefield Earth like 1000 year old working Harrier jets and a army base that somehow has working power. I am not going to tell you about the mental gymnastics I heard about that one, because I do not want my brain to start melting.

Here is the best way to explain the Noah's Flood, IT NEVER COVERED THE ENTIRE EARTH. In the original Hebrew the same word for WORLD also meant land or nation. This is a fictional story inspired by a real natural catastrophe.
