PeaceCrusader, you might want to check some of the sources you're providing. The I-Ching "expert", Alex Chiu, is an idiot and fraud. He's actually inserted the words "communists" in what were purportedly 8th century predictions. And the book has been pretty obviously re-written hundreds of times over the years so Alex is just one of the more recent ones.

If no one else is familiar with the Tu Bei Tu, it makes Nostradamus look positively lucid. A random sample:

41 Days And Counting Down

Alex Chiu did not write the prophecies. He just compiled them, like the I-Ching of Lee, Chung-Feng. Lee has 60 poems and 60 cartoon drawings. Each poem, which is a prophecy, accompanies a drawing. The prophecy has to do with Chinese history.

Unfulfilled yet at poems 56 to 60. Poem 56 states “Flyers are not birds, swimmers are not fish, A war does not depend on soldiers. It’s a game of technology. Millions of miles of deadly smoke, on top a mushroom and at bottom, a fountain. A sight out of people’s imagination. Big trouble not solved, but greater trouble arrives.” For the accompanying Cartoon 56, please go to http://www.alexchiu.com/philosophy/superichingtuaybaytu.htm .

Maybe related to the coming nuclear war are Nostradamus’ quatrains 6:24 and 2:62.

3 6 9, the goose drank wine.

Foolmewunz said that Alex Chiu had made interpolations (additions to the texts). Why would these additions be necessary?

Alex Chiu is an idiot. Have him join and come support his nonsense here.

Further, I believe not in this nonsense, but people who do acknowledge several things that tell me that your ONLY source of information is Alex Chiu's ridiculous I-Ching site.

Do you really think someone wrote verses fourteen centuries ago specifying, in words, "Teh Communists"?

Further - wouldn't your Prophet be upset with you following this heathen nonsense. Or are you in one of the groups that's interpreting this to mean that China will discover "the one god". Since the hairy thunderer isn't actually mentioned and Christianity was not known in Asia at the purported time of the writings, maybe he's referring to the Flying Spaghetti Monster (better make that the Flying Lo Mein Monster, come to think of it).

Most of those people also believed these predictions came straight from the Holy Spirit. As you say, they were in error. So are you.

If those people in the list believe their predictions came straight from the Holy Spirit, then I challenge them to show proofs.

At least, in my case, I can show proofs that a holy spirit, THE Holy Spirit if you will believe it, talks to us (plural) audio tape-recorded.

28 Days Later

Proof that a voice talks to you is not proof that it's the holy spirit. Even in the unlikely event that the prophecy of the Olympics being cancelled and WWIII starts, it's not proof of divinity.

2, 4, 6, 8 we don't wanna integrate....

Since your prophet is getting boring, let's discuss the logistical reality of this coming World War.

Firstly, China has not called for a general mobilization nor called up the reserves. It would take more than a month to call up, equip and move all those forces. This would be noticed in China. The Russians and USA and Taiwan and Japan watch China very carefully. There are no less than a dozen spy satellites synchronized over their major military installments/locations. There is nothing like this going on.

And be assured, they'd need that ground army. Their real numbers are impressive, but they have to call up 800,000 reserves to get to three mil. Taiwan, Thailand, Viet Nam and Myanmar can match that three million total, plus have a combined navy that is stronger, because India would not sit still.

Once again, the facts will counter your speculation. Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Viet Nam, Pakistan, India, Japan, Singapore, Bangladesh and even with low numbers in each country, pretty soon you come up with sufficient numerical strength to hold the Chinese army, navy and air force at bay if they were to decide on, let's say, Continental Asian hegemony in the next 41 days. (And remember, they have a 3 million man army - not 200 million. How many could they commit to crossing into Southeast Asia, where there are more than 3 million forces to oppose them.) They will/would be bogged down before they got near Indonesia, The Philippines or Australia, believe me.

And that assumes that their traditional worry - the big bear to the north - does not take advantage of this situation. Russia still has the same or a little fewer nuclear weapons as the USA. China launches one nuke at Manila and your eight hours of earthquakes will be a lot more like two hours of the four horsemen. Nukes would rain down on China from all directions. China cannot get to the Russian silos - doesn't have the missiles. They do not have the fleet or the technology to stop the missiles from Russian subs, either.

They'd have ONE ally, North Korea. But there are no targets near North Korea other than South Korea. (Arguably, they could point towards Russia or Japan, but the minute they did so, the South Korean and American forces would cross the border en masse and reduce Pyongyang to rubble. So North Korea might try to take advantage of the opening to invade the South, but they're not going to be available to help China out.

And, in this scenario with China surely loosing, I've left out massive American or European intervention - just keeping it local to the Asians.

So,... No! Your war's not going to happen and if it was to, The Philippines would be an afterthought to China. China knows history. They well remember the last Asian power set on regional domination who decided to start with an attack on the islands.

I believe the Chinese people will not be mobilized prior to the start of the war. From the 56th poem of Lee, “A war does not depend on soldiers. It’s a game of technology.”. So the Chinese will attack the US by surprise using technology, such as laser to blind the enemy’s satellites or knock them off. They will also use cyber warfare to disrupt the economy by massive power outages (attacking electrical power grids) and conduct a simultaneous military attack.

What you've never really adressed is why though?
I mean, apart from the total impossibility of your prophecy from a military standpoint, it also lacks any social realism.
Apart from the usual muscle flexing any large and powerful nation does to get what it wants from time to time there is no indication whatsoever that china has ANY interest in an offensive war. Especially as it would be levelled by the other nuclear nations in a matter of hours.

And military impossible your scenario is, a FAR far lesser invasion also known as D-day to nearly a year or more to prepare. And that was hopping a mere 200000 soldiers over the english channel into an occupied country with complete and total naval and air superiority.

10 green bottles, hanging on a wall.

Lee's poem included the word "technology", did it? Was Lee using the word in its current sense, or its original sense which meant a discourse or treatise on art or craft, particularly grammar? How would Lee have known the word in the 7th century, when it only came into common use in the 17th century?

Edit: on further checking some more dictionaries, the word technology was first noted in the early 17th century but at that time meant a treatise or discourse on grammar, or other art or craft. The current meaning was first noted in 1859. Not a word a 7th century poet/prophet was likely to use.

What you believe has no bearing on the matter. Do you have your excuse ready?

They had just as much proof as you have - none whatever. They were just as convinced of the origin of the predictions of you are, and just as mistaken.

I have loads of recordings of voices. Recordings of voices are proof of nothing except of the existence of voices, which no-one disputes.

I'm Henry The Eighth I am.

I don't speak or read any Chinese languages, and other than Alex Chiu, there seems to be no easily accessible English translation of Lee's verses. However, I did find a translation of riddle 56, the one referenced by Peace Crusader.

"Flying but they are not birds,
submerged underwater but they are not fish,
A war is going on but there is no soldier,
what a game of creation."

Alex Chiu translates it as:

"Flyers are not birds, swimmers are not fish,
A war does not depend on soldiers. It's a game of technology.
Millions of miles of deadly smoke, on top a mushroom and at bottom a fountain.
A sight out of people's imagination. Big trouble not solved, but greater trouble arrives."

Wiki led me to a page where Lee's prophecy was written out (although I'm bearing in mind Foolmewunz's warning about the words being rewritten over the centuries) and google translate brings this:

"Fly to non-bird potential non-fish
War are not soldiers fortune game

Chung said:
Territorial seas thousands of miles to make clouds
On until the sky under and Springs
Golden Mother of the wood public work magic to get
Arms missed disaster groaning"

Which is considerably different from Alex Chiu's translation. Nothing about mushrooms or technology.

I'm not convinced by these prophecies or the Holy Spirit, to be honest.

When the (false) prophecy at issue predicts that fully two thirds of humanity is about to be annihilated in a global nuclear conflagration, why is the Holy Spirit particularly concerned that a sporting event may have to be cancelled? He certainly has an odd sense of priorities.

2b or not 2b

Peace Crusader, you are just the latest in a long line of god-inspired doom mongers that we have seen here. None of their predictions have ever come true. They all talked like you. Why should we believe you and what will your excuse be when the Olympics take place? They will take place, you can bet on that.

The Third Man

Will any of this effect West Ham's plan to use Olympic Park as their new home ground?

Ali Baba and the 40 thieves...

I don't understand why the Holy Spook wouldn't tell you the full story.

Why on Discworld would he tell you only part of it?

Makes no sense....

I'm curious - you've apparently been told of a massive catastrophe that's just about to happen.

So - what are you doing about it?

Chatting on an internet forum!

Who else have you told?

Dear All,

The 2012 Olympic Games is scheduled to be held in London from 07-27 to 08-12. In 1944, it was scheduled in London also, but was cancelled because of World War II. Do you think history will repeat itself?

In 1936, Germany hosted the Olympic Games. Three years later, it invaded Poland which started WWII. In 2008, almost four years ago, China hosted the Olympic Games. I know that China will occupy the Philippines just like what the Japanese did to the country during WWII.
