Hey all! Pamela Gay and I are hosting a little astronomy MeetUp through CosmoQuest for the Sunday evening in Vegas after TAM. Suggestions for a place welcome! Looking for something not at South Pointe but close enough to get there for attendees. Locals welcome, as well!

Are you looking for a bar/restaurant or something else?

Also, nothing is close to the Southpointe, other than I think there is a pizza place nearby. Anthony's, I think?

ETA2: Any place you choose will require a car or a cab. Nothing that I know of is within walking distance (< 2 miles), and you don't even want to walk 100 yards in Vegas in July.

I'm staying till Tuesday this year so an astronomical Sunday evening with Pamela and you sounds like fun!
 
I'll be there Sunday night. Southpoint is an island in the desert, so cars/cabs will probably be necessary. A couple years ago on the Sunday after TAM, a fairly large group gathered at the Peppermill (2985 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Las Vegas, NV). We took cabs.

I'll probably have my usual Sunday night meeting at the Peppermill. However, it is most definitely conducive to a large group meeting, especially if there is to be someone speaking.
 
As I'll be lodging twenty minutes away, I'll have my car with me if we need to commute anywhere. I'll play DD as well if need be. :)
 
I'll be in Vegas all the next week, so please include me in anything that may come up. :) Although I heard some folks may try for the Pen & Teller show at the Rio for that night as well. I'm sure that I can make the tough decisions that need to be made though.

A couple of years back I set up an auction item that was a night at the Las Vegas Planetarium and Observatory with Phil Plait. They opened specifically for us, and didn't charge anything for doing so. I know you said hangout, not speaking, but thought I should throw it out there all the same.
