Penn & Teller at The Rio

I posted this in another thread but wanted to make sure you all see it:

If you are a member of TravelZoo (free) they are offering mezzanine seats at Penn and Teller for $49.50 (regularly $82.50). Available dates include the Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday nights of TAM. Here is the link

I've heard the SP shuttle can take up to 2 hrs to get you to the strip

I've only taken it once (I think the 10:05am one) and while I can't remember exactly how long it took it was nowhere near two hours. I made it back the South Point after getting Mac King tickets in time for lunch.

The time of day may make some difference.

I'm really torn over the Aretha concert. I've never seen her, and I think P&T will probably be performing for many more years to come. Not sure how many more tours Aretha will do.

Do you (or anyone else) know if this is less than the price offered to TAM participants last year?

Last year they had a 2-for-1 offer (so better than the TravelZoo discount). IIRC, it was announced kind of at the last minute so the group I went with had already purchased our tickets and couldn't take advantage of it. I know others did.

ETA: See this post.

My wife and I are 1st time TAMers this year (we're from Ottawa, CA). We'd be interested in the Sunday night P&T show so you can probably count us in for van sharing.

Will they have tickets at the door or do these things sell out?

I'm pretty sure that you can buy at the door, but if you can buy ahead of time (with the link above), you'll get a pretty decent price.

If you decide at the last minute to go, there are also booths on the Vegas strip that sell low-cost tickets to shows on the day of the show.

I just noticed that P&T have switched to Ticketmaster since last year, which means you can see what seats are available for a specific date on Ticketmaster's site.

Image of seating from vantage point of stage

Hi all! I was trying to get a sense of whether or not the Mezzanine seats in the Travelzoo offer were good or not. So, I found on FourSquare an image (see attached) of the view of the audience from the perspective of the stage. It shows clearly the sound booth in the middle blocking some of the view, and that the other two recesses in the mezzanine are the entrances to the theater. Seems like the mezzanine isn't too high up, and the front seats there aren't blocked by the tables in the middle-back of the orchestra. So, the travelzoo offer looks good to me!

EDIT: Just compared against regular Ticketmaster prices - $92 (including fees) for the Mezzanine sections. And, for point of comparison, it's $116.50 (all-in) for the first five rows and $105.50 for the remainder of the rows in the orchestra sections.

Facebook event page for Sunday showing

xinit, if you want to take over as the Host on the facebook page, just let me know and I'll make it happen.

Eido I think you will be happy with the mezzanine seats. I sat in the 4th row of the orchestra last year and it was great, but the mezz probably gets a bigger overall picture of the show. There are a couple of effects that happen out in the house so be alert at all times.

Thank you for the advice, Allecher. I'm looking forward to the show (well, to the whole TAM experience, really). And I get to see Penn at least three times (Weds. night NoGodBand gig, Fri. night Penn's party, and Sun. night show @ the Rio). :D

You forgot about P&T's keynote presentation ("38 Years of Magic & BS") at TAM on Saturday. :)

The wife and I have bought tickets for Sunday night through ticket-master. Anyone else sure they are going Sunday and want to share transport?
