Anonymous - Holocaust denial poll - all forum participants invited

actually, not quite. Everyone who voted for #3 in the public poll then posted to say that they had voted for this by mistake and thought denial was revolting.

That poses a problem for this poll, since it is entirely possible that the 1 anonymous vote for #3 was also by mistake but if they say so, then there is no way of knowing for sure. Or.... that one person could be a genuine closet denier who is too ashamed to come out. Or... someone could be winding Clayton up and is simply claiming to have made a mistake, which might prompt the closet denier to come out since otherwise how would we know whether that one vote for #3 is genuine or not?

But then, if people are so incompetent that they can't manage to choose the option they feel is correct, doesn't the choice they really want, 4, reflect the incompetence of the group that voted for 4??

No, it reflects a mistake made by four individuals.

But why do you care: you've already started hand-waving the results away, saying that it was a "fix" because everyone is "politically correct" anyway.

Which, of course, was the duhble seekrit reason you set the poll up with in the first place.

Of course, we all know that had the results gone a different way, you'd be "interpreting" the poll completely differently -- anything, *anything* at all to avoid having to admit that your hate is only approved of by a remnant of a pathetic fringe element.

I thought the mistaken (and contentiously corrected) votes in the apollo poll were remarkably careless...until I very nearly voted #3 here. And then I read it again, and compared it carefully to #4 and facepalmed myself. There should be an option for 'I have a hangover, but I definitely don't support nazi apologists'. At any rate, I'm now confident I made the correct choice.

I'm inclined to agree, except insofar as it exposes denier claims that many people secretly agree with them but are too afraid to say so as the lies that they are.
