TAM 2012 Las Vegas

I am totally looking forward to the daily Margarita specials at 5pm if they have it like last year, included all the good tequila :)

Where does this margarita happy hour take place? Silverado Bar? I may not go for all the margaritas, but I like good tequila. :)

Yes, but they call it Tequila.

Tequila + me = waking up in panties and a bow tie with sketchy memories of what transpired the night prior. (for the record, I was assured that nothing untoward or regretful happened though)

Moral: Tequila bad.

Just so you know, I'll have a bow tie or two with me...

I don't recall the name of the bar but it was beside the Mexican restaurant on the second level. We made sure to get there early every night and kept them coming, a fantastic variety of tequila!

JOY!

I have been on the fence about going, but this news of the margarita special swayed me. See y'all there!

I was pleasantly surprised that there are tequilas that don't taste like paint thinner on their own.

HAHA, if you do a little research on tequila you will understand what is good and what is awesome! It is like scotch when you get into the Anejo, some tasty stuff that will roll down your throat!

Be careful it makes people horney too!

This is going to be my first TAM: is it recommended to shell out for all of the evening shows, or is the alternative entertainment a preferred option?

(Also, is the "How to Tell the Future" workshop on Sunday 4:30PM on cold reading techniques, or something else? Anyone know?)

In my (frankly limited) experience, tickets tend to be available.

For the most part it depends on what you are interested in. The two evening "favorites" are the Thursday reception and the Friday Bacon and Donut party. The other things get decent crowds, but there are alternatives for those who aren't interested or can't afford it. If something does interest you, (like Tubba said) there are usually plenty of tickets left. There is some unofficial thing going on at almost every time that there's something official going on.

Personally, I don't do the extra-cost stuff. My first year I did, and it was great, but then I got on the forum and learned of the socializing that goes on in the bar and restaurant trips and I prefer that now.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if you could get tickets to official events at the door. Now that I know, I'd probably rather mingle with people than paying to be "talked at." :D

After I found company, I just went to whatever they wanted to go to. Works well if you're not dying to see the shows.

It's not one of the shows, but if you're a fan of the podcast I'd recommend the Skeptics Guide to the Universe dinner on Friday. You get to interact a bit with the SGU guys and they do a fun auction. It's not cheap ($95), but you are helping support the podcast (and the JREF) and also get a nice meal.
