Trayvon Martin, Vigilante Justice

I've read this whole thread and all of the posts in it.. all 6000+ of them.

And, all of the posts in a number of other threads related to this case..

And I still don't know what happened.

One thing though, if I were TM and this unknown guy was following me, I'm certainly not going to "run home" and lead him right to my friggin' door.

Me being me, I would confront him. Then only to realize the other guy has a gun...can't say how that would work out.

It's all just conjecture and speculation based on very little facts or evidence.

But carry on! It makes for some good reading.

Nope, I honestly don't have an opinion. Someone made a claim that GZ's story has changed. I've followed this closely and evidence of that is not clear to me. I asked the person who made the claim to provide evidence. This apparently ruffled some feathers. That seems weird to me on a critical thinking forum but so be it. A young man was killed under very questionable circumstances and this is a touchy subject.

GZ brother talked about trayvon choking george or suffocating or something similar the other night on some TV show. Other than that, idk what he was referring to.

6.65 per 1000. It's the 62.85 per 1000 property crime rate that must have pushed the city into the super unsafe setting. I was just going by the "crime index" though which gave it a 3 with a 100 being safest. I dunno the numbers like you but the site says the Sanford is safer than just 3% of the cities in the US. The city I knew which was closest was Oakland with a "4".
Ahhh, sorry, I did misread the 1,000. That's why I was having a hard time figuring out what the problem was. Thanks for clarifying.

Apples to apples then, according to the same site Memphis is 16.7 (compared to Orlando's 10.9, and out my window (Orange Mound), it's much higher than the city average.

So 3 to 4 times worse walking to the 7-11 here than in Sanford.

Oh, wait! You can't walk to the 7-11 here, because they all pulled out years ago.

I have the audio recording of special prosecutor Angela Corey's announcement and press conference this evening. It's an MP3 file, 25 minutes long, about 12 megs. I can transfer this file to anyone who has some web hosting space where it can be linked for sharing. My storage space is limited and I won't be able to make it available for very long before it gets deleted.

If you have not found a home yet, I can host it. IM me plz.

My understanding as well. Yet, the jury might have backed off to 2nd degree or manslaughter. Apparently not enough evidence for 1st; I'm surprised she found enough for 2nd.

With the 2nd degree charge manslaughter may again be the option if 2nd degree can't be proved beyond reasonable doubt.

Apologies if this has been previously posted.

None needed, we are entering the middle of life six of the thread. I think the issue is that first degree requires intent.

I think things have gotten a bit boring here so I thought I'd do a little photoshopping and see if I can add a little levity while we're waiting for the next phase to debate.

Your hoodies must be made of different stuff than ours then. Ours are sweatshirt material, it does not make for good rain protection, a good rain storm would saturate it, so either you have very light rain or water proofing in your hoodies.

Between 5pm and 7pm in Sanford FL, there was a whopping total of .01" of rain.

This is commonly called humidity in Florida.

I've already posted the direct link to the historical twice. Shall I do it a third time?

Really? How did GZ make TM wander slowly down the street on a cold, dark night in the rain while staring at the houses?

You claim to have seen teens texting without looking at their phones, yet you have no idea what a 17 yo talking on the phone to his girlfriends looks like?

Seriously?

Where is your source for GZ saying he was staring at houses in the dispatch calls?

Leaving the SUV the first time was a mistake, and dumb, he put his life in danger. Leaving the second time was a moronic move. He's lucky not to have become the 4.4 shot with their own gun rather than the 1 that shots the other person.

Can you cite your source for this claim?

I saw it on the last page, but forgot to ask you. Will you cite your source for all those numbers?

Once again, he didn't chase, he followed, different thing. Chasing implies a trying to catch, there is zero evidence of that, following means heading in the same direction at a distance. The evidence says that this is more likely.

Assumes facts not in evidence. Are you a mind reader?

Thanks for posting the data for that. Makes me wonder . . . from 3/23/2012:

At shortly before 7:15, George Zimmerman, who volunteered for the development's neighborhood watch, spots Trayvon standing outside the development's clubhouse near the community mailboxes, where the teen had ducked under an awning to get out of the rain. Zimmerman calls police on a non-emergency number from his SUV, saying he sees a suspicious person.

And I still don't know what happened.

Nobody here knows what happened, though many pretend they do, have a strong opinion, and are extremely affronted when it isn't taken as gospel.

That's skepticism for you.

Anybody know why TM's girlfriend he was on the phone with didn't call 911 considering the circumstances of how her call with him ended?

I've also read that the family was upset (understandably) that the police hadn't bothered to look at TM's phone call history and then go contact her as an obvious useful witness. If true that is a 100% legit complaint against the PD but doesn't it also put the girlfriend in a really weird light? I mean, her version as it is now being told is that GZ chased/stalked TM then GZ initiated the assault. If the call went dead under those circumstances then why not contact the police?

AFAIK she never tried to contact the police and the Martin family's lawyer says they were not giving Sanford PD details of what girlfriend heard in the call because they wanted a federal investigation:

Just asking questions.... questions we can't answer but we can speculate about.

Does anybody know if Trayvon was waiting to make a drug deal? If he was it would call into question his actions and why he ran away, right? Anybody know if Trayvon was trying to find a stashed gun?
