I don't understand your question. Do you mean the search options that are currently at the top?:

Found it but thx for replies. I think my problem was it used to be in upper left right out of the gate ie if you just go to google.com, but now they only show after you try to search on something. Weird.

It may be moot as I'm about to quit using the #@$ thing - I am sick to death of having to keep re-saving my search options and they won't take. Yeah I tried clearing cache etc etc. I may go back to yahoo or some such.

I recommend DuckDuckGo. I switched over to using it as my default search engine some months ago, and it works really well. It doesn't track or bubble. It's simple and straightforward, and what Google was always supposed to be.

On the other hand, google "that movie with the guy with the wierd hand" and you get an imdb link for Scary Movie 2. It's for idiomatic searches like that that Google really stands out imo.

Google used to give you the option of returning only results from a specific time frame (for example news results from November 2007). Now it is last day, week, month, and year and I am not certain it is pulling much at all from the older articles. Are there any search engines that still give you an option for a specific time period?

It's still possible, but you have to use julian calendar, which is kind of dumb. eg "Movies" daterange:2453021-456016

Alternatively, there's Google timeline

What makes you think those don't work with the built-in search fields?

I know that you can use a lot of those syntaxes within the built-in search bar. But it's just not handy and often just too cumbersome.

I like. Thx.

And I also like that they don't have some goofy logo change celebrating Joe Artist Schmuckatelli's 293d birthday.
