Merged Roosevelt's Rotten Record:Communism, Treachery, Betrayal

Concentration camp-loving Nazis won either way, so what's the difference?

One group committed genocide, the other didn´t.

Or does this not count because the side who committed genocide only killed people you hate anyway?

It's just moral calculus.

Everything A did = 1
Everything B did = 1
1 = 1
Therefore
B = A

i.e., B is "just as bad as" A.

There's a flaw in that kind of thinking, but I can't quite but my finger on it.

A didn't torture and gas Jews.

Nor did they round up enemy non combatants and send then to work to death in industrial camps.

My mother lived next to an Italian POW camp during WWII, southern Missouri. She used to trade fresh fruit for the most beautiful hand carved flatware. (Those were popular "in town" for obvious reasons.) She never had any trouble dealing with the POWs through the fence, the guards were usually asleep in the watch towers, or more interested in her than the inmates. And yet there are some here who would liken the place to Dachau. Or would if Dachau had REALLY been a bad place. ;)

In the UK Italian and German Prisoners were let out to do work on local farms etc.
At the end of the War some stayed on, others returned home then came back to the UK and they are still here.

Up the road from us is Eden Camp
It was a WW2 POW Camp and is now a Museum.

One of the camp commanders in the US said that if he kicked every prisoner out after lunch they'd all be back for supper.

No, why do that when we could just drop cruel, poisonous atomic bombs on them instead?

Invading Japan ( who started it) would have meant the deaths of thousands and thousands of brave American GIs. Your hero Hitler would have used the bomb if it had been developed in Germany, but luckily all the smart Jewish scientists went to America. The Third Reich hated 'Jewish physics' so all that Hitler had were knuckle head Nazi physicists. Why am I responding seriously to you?

You realize that we would have dropped up to eight more if the invasions had gone ahead? And that the Allied troops would have been sent through the drop zones 1/2 hour after the bombs fell? That expresses very well the level of knowledge we had about the effect of the bombs.

But, just for fun, why don't you pick. Packard, Cadillac, or Oldsmobile. A wise person such as yourself will know what I'm talking about. (And please, tell us why you chose the one you did.)

Maybe he knows what the Marx Brothers had to do with the bomb, and I am being serious.

Better to let them all starve to death then? Or be gunned down trying to attack US troops with spears? Or to let them continue with actions like Unit 731? Or how about a few more events like Nanking?

Yeah, that makes perfect sense.

The Japanese commander in Malaya had ordered that every Allied POW, man, woman and child, would be killed when the first invader hit the beaches. The date for the invasion was 1 August, 1945. So the bombs saved one hundred thousand lives in that one location. There were many more saved, of course.
