TAM 2012 Las Vegas

So long as you got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, and you leave at night while wearing sunglasses...

Wait... different film...

Anyone feel like road trippin' Fear and Loathing style from Los Angeles? All we need is a convertible, mescaline, ether, acid, marijuana and a 'can do' attitude. Let me know if your interested. :D

It's been done. Just be sure not to stop in bat country.

I'm roading it from LA, but I don't know my schedule yet. Plus I plan to stop every hundred yards or so to take scenic photos.

If anyone would be able to pick me up when I arrive (18:45 July 11) I would really appreciate it. I'll pay for the gas and buy you a drink or two as a thanks (if you drink.)

Are you staying at the South Point? There's a free shuttle bus from the airport; or does it not run in the evening?

It runs until 21:30. Just remember to book in advance:

ETA: It may mean a bit of a wait, though.

Hm. I could do that (it's over an hour wait, but that's OK). But apparently, you can only book by phone, which may be a bit of trouble (Not only do I have to make myself understood, I have to make an transatlantic call which I'm a tad iffy about, especially considering a sound quality may deteriorate, making it even more difficult to understand me). Eh, I'll do that if I can't work anything else out (or a cab - you can get cabs from the airport, I reckon?)

Cabs are definitely available, but wouldn't be the cheapest option, of course.

Another option is one of the shuttle services that run out of the airport:

I've used these as convenient and cheap transportation to the strip (no need to book in advance), but I would think some would also take you to the South Point.

What are we talking? Twenty bucks? A hundred? I'm not likely to be that short on cash, and I recall cab fares were cheap in the US compared to over here (the only cab trip I took, Manhattan -> JFK run me 50 dollars or something last year, not bad) The convenience might be worth it.

I'll call for you to make the shuttle reservation if you'd like. You would just need to PM me some details. Like name, how many people, flight # and arrival time, plus which shuttle time you'd like.

The Taxicab Authority says between $20 and $25.

That one, IIRC.

Just noticed that most of that info is on the attendee list. :)

At any rate, I've taken the shuttle. Mostly because it's free and I'm always broke. Nothing wrong with it other than the wait if your flight time doesn't correspond with the schedule very well.
