Trayvon Martin, Vigilante Justice

Re the gun issues we've been discussing:Is this credible? I'm just curious.

Also note the retractions at the end re Trayvon being suspended from school. People want to paint the kids as bad. There still is no evidence of that yet the discussion continues without said evidence.

I cannot say one way or another if it's a fact or not, but that's plausible. And yes, the person who grabs a slide as a gun is fired is gonna show cuts or at minimum a chunk taken out of his flesh an GSR and powder burns.

Agreed on both points. But I'd rather the NBPs had simply stayed out of it. Ditto Sharpton, but he's too much of an opportunist to let this slide.

Sharpton's actually become very good at channeling outrage into peaceful demonstrations, since he emphasizes non-violence pretty strongly. The rallies and marches would have happened whether he were around or not - the outrage over this case had been building since the beginning of march - but you really can't fault him here.

The NBPP, on the other hand, are a bunch of agitating idiots who love to rant on street corners. Nothing they do helps anything.

How is this unique? Newspapers have been doing this since the Revolutionary War and before. "Facts" are what they want you to think they are.

So people are marching, demanding arrest, and concluding that Zimmerman is guilty based on inconsistent reporting and lack of fact checking? That's a problem.

This is a retraction ?
Also, HuffPost reports that Trayvon had been suspended for chronic truancy, but another source notes that his school’s posted rules do not prescribe that length of suspension for that minor an offense
It still sounds like he was suspended, although I agree it has nothing to do with the events.

The gun comment sounds plausible, it also would support the comment posted under this story.

When they release witness statements and forensic evidence , it will ikely n answer many of these questions.

Posted by Blake: This is not the real story. George called 911 to report a suspicious person. As he got off the phone the kid attacked him and started beating the crap out of him and slamming his head against the walkway. All the while saying "you're gunna die tonight motherxxxxxx". George was screaming help when someone in a nearby apartment called 911 again. George's shirt came up while the kid was beating him, revealing the gun that he is licensed to carry. The kid went for the gun and they struggled for it, George ended up shooting the kid and saving his own life. All these people on yahoo saying that he should be in jail when they don't even know what happened. George is the brother-in-law of one of our good family friends, works with my parents, and is one of the nicest most gentle people you will ever meet. He's completely devastated that this happened and has barely been functional from the guilt. No one shoots someone for no reason, and especially not George. And they need to stop pulling the race card, George is Hispanic, not white.

Here's the problem. If his face was slammed into the pavement even once, his face would have Severe road rash on his face. If it was the back of his head, he would have been strongly advised to get checked at the ER, as concussions can be deadly. So, I'm calling bull spit right now.

That's not always the case. If Zimmerman told them that he had not lost consciousness, they would then leave it up to Zimmerman's discretion as to whether or not he should seek medical attention.

I find it to be...very convenient for Zimmerman that the kid who had been running away from him, suddenly became a raging madman just as son as the phones were turned off. And that nobody nearby heard any of this.

In his call he [Zimmerman] flat out said he lost him.
From the HuffPo transcript:
"This guy looks like he's up to no good, or he's on drugs or something," Zimmerman tells the 911 operator. "He's just staring, looking at all the houses. Now he's coming toward me. He's got his hand in his waistband. Something's wrong with him."

Zimmerman described Martin as wearing a hoodie and sweatpants or jeans. He continues: "He's coming to check me out. He's got something in his hands. I don't know what his deal is. Can we get an officer over here?"

"These :rule10 always get away," he says to the operator. Zimmerman is then heard giving directions to the dispatcher. "****, he's running," Zimmerman says.

"Are you following him?" the dispatcher asks.

"Yes," Zimmerman responds.

"We don't need you to do that," the dispatcher says.
Which one of the calls did I miss?

Some of the other calls:
In other recordings, callers tell the 911 dispatcher that someone has been shot. One person tells the dispatcher that two guys were wrestling behind his back porch and that one of them was yelling for help. Then the male caller stammers in shock. "I'm pretty sure the guy is dead ... Oh, my God! ... The black guy looks like he's been shot and he's dead."

"The guy on top has a white T-shirt," another caller said.

"Is he on top of someone?" the operator asks.

"Mmmhmmm," a female caller responds.

Yet another caller says, "Someone was screaming 'Help! help! help!' Then I heard a gunshot."

One caller, a teenage boy, said that as he was walking his dog, "I saw a man laying on the ground that needed help. He was screaming."

This is also interesting but only verified as an email sent to HuffPo:
Zimmerman had been the subject of earlier complaints by residents of the gated community in which he and Martin's family lived. At an emergency homeowner's association meeting earlier this month, "one man was escorted out because he openly expressed his frustration because he had previously contacted the Sanford Police Department about Zimmerman approaching him and even coming to his home," a resident wrote in an email to HuffPost. "It was also made known that there had been several complaints about George Zimmerman and his tactics" in his neighborhood watch captain role.

There's no evidence that it's a blatent misrepresentation because we know there are conflicting stories from witnesses. Regardless, we have no idea who this Blake fella is. He could be some random internet person who has decided to jump in on the rumor mill.
Incorrect. We know that Zimmerman pursued Martin, which Blake conveniently omits.
It's irrelavent.
Indeed.

And if you are attacking someone who shoots you at close range, how likely is it you fall face down?

Possible but unlikely.
Well if your scenario is correct he would have to have been shot in the back, which will be apparent or not soon enough.
