Trayvon Martin, Vigilante Justice

How is it a stretch? It's not illegal to follow someone.

Everyone keeps pointing out that Martin had the right to be there, as if Zimmerman also didn't have that right.

Its not illegal its just stupid. Keep in mind Martin is just walking back to the house while Zimmerman thinks the kid up to no good and on drugs. Once the kid realizes he's being followed, Martin running or confronting the guy is all on Zimmerman.

That's quite a bizarre legal theory. It's Zimmerman's fault even if Martin confronted him?

He did not have the right to shoot Martin, based on the facts of the situation as they're publicly known as of now.

Nor was he acting criminally, based on the facts publicly known as of now.

No, you said any confrontation was Zimmerman's fault, even if Martin initiated it.
Qualified with the fact that Zimmerman was following him, believing that Martin was up to no good & that what Zimmerman did was stupid.

Do you think what Zimmerman did was right?

It would *appear* that Zimmerman didn't have the right to be standing on property that he neither owned, rented, or was invited onto as a guest.

If he did, add that to the unanswered questions list.

Why does it matter what Zimmerman believed? Was Martin a psychic who could read Zimmerman's mind?

It was a common area of the private subdivision, and Zimmerman had every right to be there.

Right, after he said he couldn't.
It appears he can.

Can you tell the actor by the scream in the video I posted?
No, but I can tell the difference between my son's scream & every other baby on the maternity floor. Only took 2-3 days. Also there were 3 other women besides my wife giving birth on the delivery floor & they all screamed. My MiL didn't come to check on her until my wife screamed... Odd huh?

It matters because we know that Zimmerman had an aggressive attitude going into the situation.

We're not talking about a baby crying, we're talking about adults (well 17 and 28) screaming. Yes, babys have distinct voices. Screams of terror sound very unlike a persons normal voice.

Note that actors were recorded by professional sound engineers using professional recording equipment, not by a low bitrate recorder from a telephone microphone located inside a house recording sounds outside.

You're claiming that Martin knew Zimmerman's thoughts? Knew about the phone call to police? If not, it's completely irrelevant wrt Martin's actions.

Do you believe that what Zimmerman did was right?
I know I don't have enough facts to know one way or the other, unlike others here who are claiming facts not in evidence.

He certainly strongly suspected Zimmerman's intentions were hostile, seeing as how after looking at him Martin suddenly started running away from him - which evidently is when Zimmerman grabbed his gun, got out of his vehicle, and took off after him.

Can someone let me know what the procedure is with suspicious death in the US?

Over here (UK) I think the procedure would be the case would be referred to the coroner and after hearing the evidence they would issue a verdict, something like unlawful death, misadventure etc.

In criminal cases the coroners verdict is generally deferred until after the criminal investigation over, but a verdict would still be given - is that similar to the US? Is there a coroner over there?

It just feels a bit "dead endish" that the determination of a lawful death is made by the police / prosecutors and thats it. Obviosuly I don't know much about the US system and I presume there is a formal procedure for the official recording of cause of death and its lawfulness.

If it was in fact the common area. If it wasn't.

See how that works?

These weren't the projects, they were town homes in which the parcel of land the building sits on is not necessarily always a common area.

One 911 caller says 'right outside my house', one article says 'a few feet from his father's door'.

Now, are you privy to some sooper-seekrit information?
