This is the kind of endorsement that nobody wants. Apparently, Ayatollah Khameinei liked some of Obama's speech at AIPAC and praised him for promoting diplomacy over war. Now, none of us want diplomacy if we can have war instead so is Obama now toast?

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has welcomed comments by U.S. President Barack Obama pushing forward diplomacy and not war as a solution to Tehran's nuclear ambition, Iran's state TV reported on Thursday.

The report quotes Khamenei as praising a recent statement by the U.S. president saying he saw a "window of opportunity" to use diplomacy to resolve the nuclear dispute.

Seriously, real men are always letting their alligator mouths write checks that their mousey asses can't cash, right? Ask Bush the Lesser.

I really don't think anyone in this situation actually wants war.

I guess Bibi would love to blow some **** up. Obama or the Iranians, not so much.

Hopefully Khameinei's overture leads to something good, but I doubt it.

I doubt it too. I think the most it will lead to is Republican taunts of "Obama's got a boyfriend! Obama's got a boyfriend!"

The people who want war the most are the lunatic Creepublicans. It's easy to call for war when you don't have intelligence* and your finger isn't the one on the button.

* I mean this in more ways than one.

So you think they'll stop arming, funding, and training terrorist groups like Hezbollah and Hamas? Stop threatening to destroy Israel? Come clean with their nuclear program?

Nice straw man. You know as well as I do that the answer to those questions is "no". You also know as well as I do that those aren't the real questions.

The real question: If Iran produces nuclear weapons, will the result be dangerous enough to have gone to war to prevent it? And who would such a war benefit most?

The answer to the first question depends on how insane/self destructive you think the present regime is, and on the possibility of a regime change that brings an even more radical, self-destructive group into power.

The answer to the second question is clear: Israel. Is it worth American lives and money to do Israel's dirty work?

My position: From a U.S. point of view, Iran having the bomb is bad. Anyone going to war to try to prevent it is worse.

Sure, as soon Israel solves the problem it - unintentionally - created:

Coming to peace with the vast majority of Palestinians that would much more love to live in peace, independence and prosperity than just hoping to get rid of Israel and being oppressed till the end of time.

That would solve all the major problems Israel has with it's neighbors and international critics. And not just that, they would probably be seen as heroes for solving that annoying pile of crap.

Okay, what do they do about the minority of Palestinians that are hungry for Israeli blood?

Why do you sound like a radical yourself most of the time?

Why do you have a double standard?

Why should Israel take care of its radical religious wing and Iran be left alone when its entire government is comprised of religious radicals?

DUH! Because the majority of Iranians and Palestinians would be moderated by Palestinian peace - while the radical religious Jewish wing will be the exact opposite - even more radicalized when being thrown down their Hills out of the Westbank.

That has nothing to do with double standards.

And yes, they look and behave just like crazy terrorists:

So according to you the only reason the Iranian government is made up of radical Islamists is because of the territorial dispute of Israel and Palestine?

That has nothing to do with double standards.
Yes, you have a double standard.

You think it's the Israelis who should moderate themselves, while you think Iranians will get moderate magically once a conflict in another country is resolved.

That's pure idiocy.

Uh, not really - it's the very essence of what the Iranians are saying for decades. Not that you would really care - quotemining the "internets". What did I say about people sounding like radicals again?

Actually, since you won't watch the Video showing that I'm not talking about double standards anyway, it's very possible that Jews will be turning against Jews as soon the radical Jews are forced to leave their settlements in the Westbank:

Israeli settler violence refers both to acts of violence committed by a restricted number of Israeli settlers against Palestinians and Israeli security forces, predominantly in the West Bank.
