Q: Hi, I have a friend from Las Vegas. When I first met him I didn?t know that people actually lived in Las Vegas, and so I said, ?How can you live in Las Vegas?? And he said, ?Oh no, it?s okay, there are plenty of normal people there.? And I don?t know you at all, so how can you show me that you?re normal, one of the normal ones?
PPSN: The floor is yellow, the cushion is blue.
Q: Thank you.

The last check to check your wisdom:

Q: Thom, earlier, I overheard a conversation in the hallway in which you were asked if maybe you would play the saxophone tonight, and you hesitated and it didn't seem like you would. Tonight will be a celebration and if tonight you don't play the saxophone, how will you celebrate?
PPSN: .....................................................
Q: Thank you for ..........................

your reply?

Q: Thank you for playing.

Zen has become dead in JREF, I think. I hope that zen will still be the fastest assembly line of enlightened beings as it has been for the past few generations. I might be wrong about the number of awakend people this way so, historians, please correct me. Thank you for teaching me here. I learnt a lot.
See you in 10 000 years.

That is the second or third time someone has rage quit the forum ending it with "see you in 10,000 years". Possible same troll?

Who was the other guy....he made a silly post about grouping us into weird categories and gave us that online quiz to fill out.

Don't let Yoko hear you say that, she gets crazy about those royalties...

Lennon wrote that mumbo jumbo as a protest about eejits reading all sorts of guff into Beatle lyrics. His friend Pete Shotton was there when he finished the words. Lennon turned to him and said. 'Let them try and find some meaning in that lot'. Didn't stop the woos though.

That wasn't All You Need Is Zen, it was Zen Am The Walrus...

JREF is where you find the OPPOSITE of Zen. Seeing the opposite of something can teach one things about it, but man is it hard to stomach this sick, twisted place for very long.

. . . but man is it hard to stomach this sick, twisted place for very long.

Then you should astrally project yourself to the dark side of the moon where you may commune with the May Queen.

"zen" spelt backwards is "nez".

"Nez" is French for "nose".

An English use of the word "nose" is the smell of a wine.

Therefore . . . um, er . . .

If I may alter your very reasonable line of argument slightly:

1. "zen" spelt backwards is "nez"
2. "Nez" is French for "nose"
3. My dog has no nose.
4. How, then, does my dog smell?
5. Through the power of zen!
6. Which, spelled backwards... (repeat until enlightened)

If you aren't enlighted, how can you possibly know Zen's absence or its opposite?
Especially when you can't even discuss its basic practices or premises?

And if you are enlightened, why would you be playing monkey mind games here?

The following is a piece from a Dharma Combat after which Myo Ji Sunim became a master:

Q: We have known each other a long time. But still I don't know one thing. In Korea there is a huge painting, bigger than here, and there's many bodhisattvas and Buddhas. I want to know which one is you?
MJSN: .............................................
Q: Thank you for your teaching.

If you were Zen Sensei Myo Ji Sunim, how would you answer the questioner?

I don't know. I'm not Zen Sensei Myo Ji Sunim. I can only be Piscivore.
