How reliable is the meditation experience?

So,this indian guru simply was self-deluded?Or it was probably just his imagination? It's convenient to speak about "mystical experience" because it cannot be verified scientifically, and thus cannot be refuted for the same reason...

Look what he said: "He placed his right hand on his right breast and continued, "Here lies the Heart, the dynamic, spiritual Heart. It is called Hridaya and is located on the right side of the chest and is clearly visible to the inner eye of an adept on the spiritual path.

Through meditation you can learn to find the Self in the cave of this Heart."

Well, I think it's too glib to simply say "he's deluded", as it's s a bit more involved that that, as I see it. The guru is a product of his cultural environment. He's grown up with and learnt this particular religious tradition, and therefore any experiences he has will be interpreted through his religious and cultural conditioning. We all do this to certain extent, it's merely that in this example we have something that is being described as 'spiritual'.
