Kim Jong Un Looking at Things

Your disgust is irrational. Man vs. Food and hotdog eating contests have zero impact on starving children in other countries.

Yeah, it's not like that food could be sent somewhere it's needed. That's crazy talk!

Yeah, I am sure that those five pound steaks and six pound hamburgers were going to be sent to Somalia but then that guy from Man vs Food disgustingly ate it all himself for entertainment thus leaving the kids in Somalia starving.

The reality of the matter is that food is sent where it is needed. It is often stolen by warlords and such though.

What's up with the notebooks.

From what I have read, his flunkies all carry notebooks because they want to immediately write down any important, inspirational statements or instructions he utters.

Once one flunky has a notebook, you better make sure you do too. You don't want to be the only flunky without one.

I guess the question is: why notebooks? I know why *I* might want to have my henchmen writing notes in little books instead of using electronic recording devices but why the leader of North Korea? I sure hope it's not because our minds work the same way because, if true, that nation might be in for an interval of mild to critical instability.

I was surprised they weren't using iPads or Android tablets, to show how Best Korea is on the cutting edge.

Whose argument do you think you're refuting with this statement?

Picture 10 is my favourite because of the caption compared to what it shows:

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visits a facility of the Command of Large Combined Unit 671 of the Korean People's Army.

(Kim surrounded by baskets and bundles of twigs.) :)

He looks like he surrounded by faggots.

That might prevent the scourge of a fourth generation of this nutbar family from taking control.

Here's a newish article about IMAGE:

The regime wants its people to see Kim Jong Un as Great Leader Kim Il Sung reincarnated... They fattened him up and gave him a thorough training - and plastic surgery, too, some even say - to make him look just like his grandfather.

"Sent somewhere?" Where? And how will it get there? An army of hamburger carriers going door by door and jungle village by jungle village, killing warlords and paramilitaries to find anyone who's hungry?

You figure out the logistics and get the delivery system stable, and I'll donate my next order of sushi. With any luck, it'll still be fresh when it's discovered by a starving child on the corpse of a food-delivery-commando in the Colombian jungle.

Food waste in America is not the problem, logistics and politics are. You can't feed people if their leader won't let you. Additionally, a lot of the really "wasteful" displays of food: buffets, eating competitions etc. aren't wasted at all, the leftover food is blended into slush and sold as pig slop.

Or donated to homeless shelters.

Many years ago I watched people in a really upscale dining room in San Francisco loading up 5 gallon trash cans of salmon, perfectly trimmed and cooked crab claws, many pounds of meats and deserts, all just thrown away after a very expensive Sunday brunch.

I was told they tried giving the food to the homeless but eventually the outside of the hotel became surrounded by homeless people on Sundays. To remedy that in another kind effort, the hotel would pay for someone to drive the food over to a homeless shelter.

A homeless person either tried, or succeeded in suing the hotel for food related ailments.

?

I love the look on the North Koreans faces that are looking a the new leader. In the picture with the food the one guy behind him to the right looks like he is thinking "Go ahead Phata Boy and try EAT IT ALL"

I wonder if he can drink hundreds of thousands of dollars of cognac every year like Dad?

Hopefully he can figure out how to fix his country.

No kidding. He's effectively a powerless figurehead, being controlled by his aunt and uncle and a few senior military leaders. They will use him to continue to ensure that their power, and their perks, continue unabated. "Positive change" would inevitably mean at the very least a loss of some of that power, and at worst having their deep corruption and abuse revealed to the people, resulting in a sweeping revolution that would see all of them killed.

"Status quo" is gonna' be the way things remain, until such time as a violent revolution takes place. This, sadly, seems the most likely option: there must be major internal jockeying for power right now, which could lead to a military coup by dissatisfied generals; and a revolution of the people is not entirely out of the question, either.

I like the photos where everyone is supposed to be taking notes on his 'expert guidance', especially on a basketball court. Wasn't Kim Jong-Il an expert on most things and gave pointers to his gracious underlings on things like movie making?

There's a documentary that was done about the North Korean soccer team, when they made it to the World Cup. Before their departure, their Great Leader showed up to give them advice.

His immortal words of immeasurable sagacity? "Run fast and kick hard"

The players, when interviewed about this moment after the fact, broke into tears at their gratitude for this advice from their dearly loved leader.

Well he was a known film buff - but more often he gave tips at manufacturing plants etc. Which I believe he did have some genuine knowledge
