I received wonderful email at my StopSylvie web site.

The subject was "A Message to say Thanks!".

Here it is:

Mr. Lancaster,

I just wanted to send a quick note of thanks to you for reminding me of my critical intelligence and what I believe in during a trying time. My husband and I experienced a tragic loss - our son was born silently, a stillborn, on Nov. 1st and no reason was found. As grieving often goes, I had reached a point where I was searching for answers and bargaining and trying to find a reason or a message in a crap shoot mess. During this search I stumbled across Sylvia Browne’s website; I had read one of her books several years ago and had thought some of her ideas on spirituality/afterlife seemed intriguing, but was a complete skeptic on her psychic ability. I got caught up reading some of her Questions and Answers from the “Inner Circle” where she tells people about loved ones who have passed one, what they passed from, what their message was and what the future holds. Sadly, I immediately got a hot rush of hope “What if I can found out what happened to our son? What if he has a message for me? I will find out if it will happen again, or if we will be lucky enough to have kids”. In my delicate state I was influenced with the hope of Sylvia being able to answer all of the questions that none of my Doctors could.

Luckily, I also came across your stop Sylvia sight. I read one of your articles on your encounter with Sylvia in Las Vegas with your wife and Mr. Larson. It metaphorically slapped the sense back into me and reminded me why I was so skeptical in the first place and that I’ve never believed in any of that crap. Her tract record of being incorrect, or at best 50/50 with predictions, her vague and general answers, her abilities to read a crowd - you reminded me of all of that. I am an extremely critical thinker and someone who needs evidence to form concrete beliefs, and in my post-tragic state I almost lost that. It literally made me sick to my stomach to think of a woman or man who has gone through tragedy and didn’t have the strong composition to realize the greedy hoax she is pulling. How easily they would be pulled into the “I have answers” trap and how tragic it would be for them to drop $200 - $800 dollars to find answers that aren’t true, or can’t be proven to be so. She is a greedy, sad person to take advantage of people in their most desperate times.

I share this with you to say thank you and to ask you and your affiliates to continue your pursuits of debunking these frauds. Yours is a service needed much more than hers.

Best,

A powerful reminder of why I created the site in the first place, and it makes me want to get back to it all the more.

I always find it interesting which articles seemed to do the trick. It seems to vary so much from person to person.

Awesome!

That certainly does make it seem all worthwhile. A tragic loss, any loss, can really open someone up for a number of scammers who prey on just that kind of hope.

Good work, sir.

Thanks! Yes,it surprised me somewhat that she referenced the Excalibur article. Bt I learned early on that nearly every article on the site seemed to be the "last straw" for at least one visitor to the site (pushing them to the skeptical position about Sylvia's "abilities"), .even articles I would not have suspected of being hat for anyone. So I tried to write each article so that it was as self-contained as possible, and did not require the reading of other articles to be understood (though I linked to other articles on the site where I thought they might help.

Yay! Another person saved from the agony of dealing with Sylvia.

:D

Nice to see some proof that it is worth making the effort. You are awesome, as always :-)

Thanks, DS.

Good stuff, Robert.

Thanks, O Oxymoronic one! :)

Cheerleader smilies! haven't seenh them in a while, thanks!

A sad story. A loss like that can be incredibly hard psychologically on a woman. Looking for someone to turn to is a very understandable response.
Sounds like this lady is pretty tough minded, but she needed that supporting hand at the critical moment to get her mental balance back- and the resource you built was there when she needed it. You have every right to be proud of your work, Robert.

I am proud of it Sam, thanks! And I hope to get bck to it (and other Stop Sites) soon, so I can start being proud of things in my present, not just things in my past. I'm tired of feeling like a "Has-Been" (Although it's better than feeling like a "Never-Was").

I'm tired of feeling like a "Has-Been" (Although it's better than feeling like a "Never-Was").

As William Shatner notes in his song "Has Been"

Has been implied failure; not so.
Has been . . . was.
Has been . . . might again.

On the other hand, I would never classify you as "has been". You, sir, are.

I'm so sorry for your correspondent's loss. :( I'm not sure I would call it a wonderful email, powerful possibly.

I meant that it was wonderful for me to read an account of how the site had served its intended purpose for her, that's all.

Interesting lyrics, thanks for sharing them. Shatner would know a thing or two about the subject, certainly.

Thanks, Rob. I hope to feel that way about myself again soon.
