It's the other way around, Robert foolishly wants to believe he can't get HIV unless he has receptive anal sex. He thinks most African women with HIV got it through the back door.

This is true and worldwide HIV epidemiological evidence overwhelmingly supports that conclusion. If you believe HIV in the US encompasses the most HIV cases, only then would US demographics apply. And presenting the case that 3 out of the thousands and thousands of HIV researchers believe it's all about anal intercourse is not convincing.

This is also true and agreed with your post claiming predominantly homosexually transmitted HIV led to Ryan White's infection through contaminated blood products.

For the record, anal sex and uncircumcised males are both correlated with a higher transmission rate. And oral sex is not risk free.

However, Robert is still full of falsehoods about the transmission of HIV as well as falsehoods about sexual practices in Africa (an extremely culturally diverse continent, BTW) and falsehoods about homosexuality.
 
OK, I listened to the Terry Gross/Santorum interview. He clearly says he believes it is self defense if the mother's life is threatened and then one may take the fetus's life. He just doesn't believe that is true in 99.9% of all abortions.

The rapid growth in the transmission of the AIDS in Africa is more related to the highly increased amount of civil war rapes and truck stops.

Well it also is transmitted more in all forms of sex thanks to sores and such from untreated other diseases which would normally be treated in places like the US.

I've thought a bit more about this and how it still reflects on Santorum's selfish egotistical attitude that his values should be everyone's values. If one looks at his own decision making in the personal event, he chose to take an extreme chance with his wife's life. His claim that 99.9% of abortions would not be to protect the mother suggests he would prosecute a mother and/or a physician who had/performed a therapeutic abortion for anything less than a mother on the verge of death. Santorum's kind of uneducated medical decision making would put his values over current medical knowledge and would result in many deaths of both mothers and their fetuses until Santorum and likewise thinkers had the evidence the medical community already has demonstrating they are wrong.
