It's a very common thing relinquishing parents do, as they have a right to. But the adoption agency does not have that right.

I see nothing wrong with the current CONSENTING ADULTS standard. But as this thread is about Santorum, how about Santorum's downright laughable view.

"As I would with acts of other, what I would consider to be, acts outside of traditional heterosexual relationships. And that includes a variety of different acts, not just homosexual."

And to be clear he's talking about things, he believes should be outlawed. With his history of what he considers 'traditional' in heterosexual relationships, that means only procreative sex.

So are you for laws against oral sex Robert? How about manual sex? Masturbation? Regulations on positions?

Icky. I'm not against laws that prohibit sex between fertile siblings but otherwise, so long as we are talking about consenting adults, sure, it disgusts me but it neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.

Seriously, though, what sort of sexual behavior are you referring to? Because, I'll bet whatever kinds of behavior you're referring to is equally applicable to straights as well as gays, and we still let straight people get married.

Which happens between heterosexuals. Are you going to make sex between heterosexuals illegal? There is nothing about STD's that ensure they do or will always favor certain behaviors. BTW, what does that have to do with anything? We are capable of solving social health problems without the destruction of our species. AIDS didn't even significantly lower the rate of our growth.

There is some sociological data that supports the idea that as the mortality rate rises our libido does also. "Life finds a way"

I was being facetious, playing on the fact that the typical pro-life argument is that a woman's choice is gone the moment a fetus is in development.
the reality is when it comes to having a baby, there are many factors in these decisions that make clear cut arguments nearly impossible to realize.

When it comes to adoptions, I believe we should employ the same rational view we have for child custody, "What is best for the child". In this way, the mother may or may not get her say in placement.
