Rep. Michele Bachmann is suspending her presidential campaign, said a senior Republican official with direct knowledge of the lawmaker’s plans. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the Minnesota lawmaker, a favorite of the tea party wing of the party and a harsh critic of President Obama, realized after her sixth-place finish in Iowa’s caucuses that “there was no viable way forward.” By suspending her campaign, Bachmann is effectively dropping out.

Bye Michele, we'll miss you.

Only because you like making fun of her. :p
Well, yeah. It is much more enjoyable watching a decent-looking woman saying stupid crap than to watch a dweeb like Perry or an ugly sleaze ball like Gingrich or a creepy dude like Santorum do the same thing.

If "suspend" means "quit" why not say "quit"?

Crazy fool.
If she quits, she can no longer do any fund-raising, and might be stuck with some serious campaign debts to pay off.

There is also the chance that one of the remaining candidates will go postal on the others and reset the whole contest.

(These are not the most rational people in the country, you know.)

I think it has to do with the rules for fundraising and paying off campaign debts.
And you never know what can happen in the next few months. If she quits and some unforeseen circumstance comes about it would be harder to get back into the race.

Well, ...

I could explain the difference between 'suspend' and 'quit' to you, however since you are such a smart man who has me on his "Ignore List" therefore I will not bother to try to explain it to you.

According to Mrs. Bachmann, she is looking forward "to the next chapter in God's plan."

The first chapter being to take the lead in the polls by trumpeting God's name.

The next chapter being to continue to trumpet, but losing the lead and doing a virtual face-plant in the polls, after saying a bunch of really stupid stuff.

The third chapter being to basically come in dead last in the Iowa caucuses, despite being the only Iowa native in the race.

The fourth chapter being to spout a bunch of shameless nonsense and ignorance, then quit the race.

What has God got planned for the fifth chapter of His plan? I honestly don't give a crap. The plan hasn't looked all that great so far, and it doesn't seem to be all that well thought out.

Anything that is not thought out, or that necessarily involves inscrutable mystery, or that requires someone to wait and see what comes about is not in any meaningful sense a "plan."

Actually, Pawlenty was first.

I forgot all about him. Wasn't there a guy named Johnson or Jackson too? A mayor or governor in New Mexico?

Now Perry says he's going to SC afterall. I bet he figured out he needs to raise more money before he can quit.

Ding-dong, the witch is dead, Which old witch, the wicked wi -- Oh, wait. That's Ann Coulter. Never mind . . . .

Gary Johnson.

Running for president does get expensive. It took John Glenn 22 years to pay off his 1984 campaign debt.
