why is everybody who says "watch the video" automatically CTist?

in this particular instance the actual evidence is a speech, of which this is a live video.

as a skeptic you are happier if somebody transcribes what was said for you instead of pressing "play" and devoting 3 minutes of your time to "research" the original material are you?

why should anybody else waste their time transcribing things for you?
 
Except here watching the video doesn't make a difference, because he did say what was reported him saying.

well no not really.

"technology" is not necessarily a "cancer causing machine" death rays etc.

I am not passing comment on him, the situation or the liklihood of technology that could do this, just this seemingly preprogrammed

"video containing evidence = conspiracy theorist" mindset many exhibit round here.
 
BTW, just for the sake of my education, was there a better way for me to phrase "because he did say what was reported him saying"? It really sounds awful.

:) because what was reported was accurate in this case?

but its always going to depend where it was reported and how far along the conversation has gotten with usual distortions.

Magic Cancer Ray is my favorite from this thread, as though "technology" couldn't be biochemical.

So, 40/50 years ago the USA did medical experiments in Guatemala - and that means they are doing ot to Latin American presidents today? Well, could be.

I have another theory, equally plausible: We know that 70 years ago Germany did a lot of medical experiments, inducing all kinds of illnesses in healthy people. Where did many these experimenters go? Latin America!

You want me to waste my time watching their video when they could have simply stated their claim in the first place? E.G.

"Chavez didn't say anything about a cancer causing machine."

Why do I have to do their work for them?
 
Or Mr. Chavez could have realized that this is one of life's many coincidences and not brought it up at all.
 
Back in 1945 they would´ve called you a nut too if you suspected a secret listening device devoid of batteries, metallic parts etc. which nevertheless transmitted sounds via radiowaves... yet that thing existed.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thing_(listening_device))

So, although in this case it is probably coincedence I wouldn´t deny the possibility of a cancer inducing machine...
