That is not what I meant. In the past, we had to pay a lot extra to get stations from other countries. The basic line-up of stations did not include stations from other countries. Those packages cost a lot more. If you ask the cable company for the lowest cost package, it includes the one from Canada. That is there by default.

Although it is another country it is not as foreign as other countries. If I wanted to watch Globo, for example, I would have to pay a lot for it.

Again, your cable company does tell you that CBC is the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. That it's included by default isn't relevant to the question of whether or not it's identified as being from a foreign country.

What are you talking about, man? You know what my cable company tells me? No, my cable company does not tell me what stations I am getting. I did not even know the CBC channel was the CBC channel. I never got a notice in the mail. We just called and asked for the lowest cost package. That is it.

Even so Canada is still a separate nation and thus foreign. It's just a similar and familiar foreign (but foreign nonetheless, as tighter U.S. over the border indicate).

In any case, as I stated much earlier in this thread, it seems clear that foreign in the context of Perry's usage meant overseas countries that tend to be unfriendly to the U.S. So I don't know why this thread is still going on.

IIRC she is also the largest landowner in the world with close to 2.5 trillion acres in Canada.
