Chavez jumps the shark

A machine that can cause cancer on anyone on the planet? And we used it on him? Someone that isn't even a real pain to the USA?

And I question this as a means of assassination. People can beat cancer. Better to build a machine that just turns all their blood into dust.

We've got such machines.

They are called "guns". To be fair though, the blood-turning-to-dust thing is largely a byproduct of their primary function.... making holes.

But if you think that a Magic Cancer Ray is even plausible, put your psychiatrist on danger money and get your meds adjusted now.
He said "a technology to induce cancer." Spinning that to make it sound more ridiculous really doesn't demonstrate anything.

I don't think you can make it more ridiculous. Yes there are things that can cause cancer but since they would involve radiation or toxic chemicals that would be easily detectable, and require direct access to the intended victim, and wouldn't be guaranteed to either cause cancer or have it be fatal, then yeah the idea is about as ridiculous as it can get.

I found video of Chavez' unbutchered statement with english subtitles on youtube:

And did he make the comment about the cancer causing machine? Basically if he did it was a rather stupid thing to do. Doesn't make him an idiot, doesn't mean his political views are automatically discredited, even the smartest politicians puts his foot in his mouth from time to time, your world view will not crumble if you just admit, 'yeah that was a silly thing to say'.

Indeed

There is no simple yes or no answer to your question. It's far from what the OP heralded as "Hugo Chavez is now claiming that the US has a 'secret weapon' that caused his cancer..."

Why don't you watch it yourself?

Afraid your world-view might crumble?

I'd say this is a serious talk to what looks like a military academy or something. He's very concerned and not joking around. He's reflecting on the situation of such a series of left-leaning latin american politicians conducting cancer in short time (on the news that Argentine president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner was diagnosed, too). Fidel warned him to be careful with the food...

Actually it is pretty much yes or no. You yourself posted his comments previously. He made a stupid comment, live with it. As to world-view, Chavez is a self important egotist, his ideology will always come second to that; as it has with so many of his fellow politicians of whatever alignment.

Why is it every CT demands other people watch videos rather than simply stating whatever it is they believe?

Not subjective opinion in the least...

Confirmation bias in action.

You do realize outside the X-Files, there is no way to "give" someone cancer in the short term. I seriously doubt the CIA has been force feeding asbestos to left-leaning Latin American politicians for the past couple of decades.

Would it be strange if Hugo Chavez were a nutcase that various leftist apologized for because they are also a tad dingy in the head due to too many bong hits? I don't know. I leave it to be reflected on. I don't want to make any reckless accusations.
Heh, heh, heh!!:D:D:D:D

It's ridiculous enough as it is.

In absolute fairness, there are several technologies that, as side effects, can probably induce cancers of varying abilities to debilitate/kill in a reasonable time. Under perfect conditions of exposure.

The only problem is that none of them is likely to be easily placed in ways they can do that effectively and dependably without being noticed. All the ones likely to work and not be noticed also require exposure over time.

Poisons are so much simpler and many are quite able to be delivered easily and effectively and without prolonged exposure of the applying agent/agency. And many of them mimic natural conditions/diseases.

Dunno, if the US wanted to give Lula da Silva cancer, why did it waited AFTER he left office?

The fact that they were all diagnosed in short time (of each other) doesn't say anything about the time of a notional "giving" moment.

I wouldn't want to live in a country lead by a man afflicted with paranoid delusions, would you?
