"Ron Paul racist rant caught on tape!" (note, in quotes)

Skeptic Ginger, Cherry Picking is a logical fallacy. Read the whole articles you link to. Also, as a whole, those articles are just opinions by Michael Brendan Dougherty and Catalina Camia, not evidince.
I read the whole articles. I'm at the end of listening to a 40 minute keynote speech of Paul's.

Ron Paul at the 50th anniversary of the John Birch Society**
**(For those of you unfamiliar with the JBS, they accused Nixon of being a Commie at one time.)

It's 40 minutes of lauding personal responsibility and what's wrong with America is government taking care of the failed humans. You don't make that kind of speech without some belief in the 'welfare queen' stereotype. And it goes hand in hand with 'blacks are lazy' stereotypes. Near the end he rants about radical Islamists inviting us to engage in war. Paul calls it OSB's plan to bankrupt the US.

Paul's racists views are public knowledge. Why some people are just now figuring this out is the real mystery. Here's that quote again you seem to have missed:
(It's hard to imagine a context that would make the above quotes defensible.)

Prove it.

People are innocent until proven guilty. There has to be someone working at the newsletter who can come forward and say that they know Ron Paul wrote it.

Where is he or she?

Are you a conspiracy theorist? Do you think the moon landing was fake and it does not matter that no one who worked on the project has come forward to say it was fake?

No one who worked on the newsletter has come forward and said that Ron Paul wrote the articles and he is a liar. How many years has it been?

People are innocent until proven guilty. Of course that is unless they are a Republicon, right? Those damn right-wingers. We know they are evil without cause, right?

Joe Biden said that Obama was articulate for a black guy.
Another meaningless Red Hering

Some of the things in the article you pointed to are on that same level.
And some of them are way worse.

We cannot forgive Joe Biden and not forgive Ron Paul for saying the exact same kind of things. What are you saying, Liberals mean well and Republicon's don't mean well so we should look the other way when Biden says something stupid and not Ron Paul?
I'd forgive him if he admitted his views were wrong and was sincere about it. He hasn't.

As for the really crazy racist stuff, it is Michael Brendan Dougherty and Catalina Camia oppinion that Ron Paul wrote them, not Ron Paul's.
Not buying it. In 1996 when he wasn't running for Pres he said they were his views.

The racists I have met are not ashamed to admit they are racists. Ron Paul sticks to his guns on other unpopular views, why wouldn't he on this?

Also, the two Libertarians I know of are definately NOT racists.
This is an irrelevant anecdote. So you know 2 Libertarians who aren't racist. That's supposed to mean no Libertarians are racist?

As for being in denial, Paul clearly is. So you know some baltant racists. Again, that is supposed to be evidence no racists are in denial?

The statements in the OP in this discussion thread are not the statements of a racist.

It was Paul's newsletter. It's not like it was some article written by a guest in a blog or paper.

Your defense of Paul is strange to me. I could see someone like yourself arguing the views are not racist because they represent reality and/or because you or Paul have black friends therefore you aren't racist. But this claim the views aren't Paul's personal views because of [fill in the excuse of your choice here] when Paul's views are in plain sight and have been for a couple decades is not a valid defense. Ron and Rand Paul's views are very public and very racist.

More evidence cup running over:

From 2008 when this was a hot topic like now:
Angry White Man - The bigoted past of Ron Paul.
But, whoever actually wrote them, the newsletters I saw all had one thing in common: They were published under a banner containing Paul’s name, and the articles (except for one special edition of a newsletter that contained the byline of another writer) seem designed to create the impression that they were written by him--and reflected his views. What they reveal are decades worth of obsession with conspiracies, sympathy for the right-wing militia movement, and deeply held bigotry against blacks, Jews, and gays. In short, they suggest that Ron Paul is not the plain-speaking antiwar activist his supporters believe they are backing--but rather a member in good standing of some of the oldest and ugliest traditions in American politics.

Ron Paul said:
What can you do? More and more Americans are carrying a gun in the car. An ex-cop I know advises that if you have to use a gun on a youth, you should leave the scene immediately, disposing of the wiped off gun as soon as possible. Such a gun cannot, of course, be registered to you, but one bought privately (through the classifieds, for example).
OMFE! That is one of the most horrific pieces of insanity I have ever seen. "Keep a drop gun" in case you have to murder an inner city youth!?!?!?!??!?!!

If they weren't roaming the streets looking for cars to steal, it wouldn't be necessary.

Show me where it was signed or denoted as "by Ron Paul" and where his name was not just used by a group as a caption to a publication.

What is strange to me that you can accuse another human being as being a racist without conclusive proof and you feel perfectly fine about doing so.

What is strange to me is that you can accuse someone with a PHD as writing something stupid without any conclusive proof and it is completely logical to you.

Lots of ideas are belived widely and accepted as truth by lots of people. That does not make them true.

It makes people feel good about themselves to believe Republicans are racist. It diverts them from the racist comments Democrats slip up and say from time to time.

Tell me if I'm getting this right, Rand Paul is against "government" or institutionalized racism, but he's all for private business racism?

It does not say that if you watch the show.

And that was Rand Paul is not Ron Paul.

Do you deny that the newsletters were published by Ron Paul & Associates? a company he owned?

If he couldn't even manage a simple fundrasing company publishing newsletters under his name, how the hell do you think he's going to be able to manage running the fegeral government of the United States of America?

It really doesn't matter if he wrote them or not. The plan fact of the mater is that his company, under his control, published the newsletters.

If he couldn't or didn't care to control what was being pushed out under his name, then he has no buisness running for executive office.

...
Apparently, he has referred to MLK Day as "Hate Whitey Day" and so on (or he at least had, in his words, "moral responsibility" for those words).

...

I was utterly unaware of that and it has caused me to re-evaluate my position on him. I had thought he was a good person but a nut, now I think he is just another GOP candidate.

After seeing Bill's answer maybe I've misread your post.

Rand's position was indefensible and just like his father, when you confront either of them with the consequences of what they suggest are solutions, they just block reality out and refuse to address it. So yes, Libertarian to the extreme allows for all the racism any proprietor chooses to hand out. Private property is God. They claim no right of the community to act in its interest, there is only the individual's rights. And when you ask what they believe about one person exercising their rights that hurts someone else's rights, both the Pauls change the subject.
