Christopher Hitchens Dies at 62

Christopher Hitchens, the maverick essayist, unabashed atheist and cable television gladiator whose long list of targets included Bill Clinton, Henry Kissinger, and even Mother Teresa and organized religion, has died from pneumonia, a complication of esophageal cancer. He was 62.

Been dreading the news, how sad. He was such an inspiration, we could have done with him here for many more years.

The world has lost a great champion and hero of reason. He will be missed, but will live on in the real afterlife of our memories and his writings, that have, and will continue to inspire future generations.

When he said things I agreed with, he came off as a champion of all truth. When he said things I hated, he came off as an insufferable ass. Well played, sir! We should all strive to be as bold.

Same for me. Loved him at times, rolled-eyes at him at times. Despised his politics.

On the Yahoo news page there are hundreds of Christian commenters gleefully saying he'll burn in Hell. What a terrific religion. Thankfully a) He would've gotten a kick out of that, and b) such comments are being universally down-voted.

I prefer to think Hitchens is now suffering in Helheim. Or possibly reincarnated as a naked rat mole. That'd serve him right for his Atheism!
