Distinguishing between OWS and the Tea Party...

We (or at least I) don't have antagonism towards public protesting. I also don't have antagonism against teabaggers or occutards. Mockery would be the more accurate description.

Well, using ableist and sexist slurs against them is pretty antagonistic bro. :-/

Why do self-described skeptics have such a powerful antagonism towards public protesting? Is this normal behavior?

History shows the vast majority of protests accomplish nothing except annoying people and costing governments money in cleanup. Add in the fact that most protests are over stupid things and you get a group of people that may agree with a particular protest while still regarding it as naive and unlikely to get anything done.

I just don't understand the occutard label. Teabagger was a nice mix of internet memes, clueless people using the term, and degrading sex acts. It was like a TragicMonkey post. Occutard has all the wit of an OWS protestor.

To be clear, I am opposed to using either term. I just understand why the first one came about.

Teatards pick fights when they do not get their way.

This is self-explanatory. A brain-scrambled Marine claims he was just trying to shake the winner's hand, but he was unable to keep his goons from acting like a bunch of Nazi SA terrorists.

And then there is that lying sack of crap John Mirelli who conspired with the crooked preacher Harris Himes and the little punk Kenny Gladney to have a pastor and union member brought up on bogus assault charges. Mirelli was there to pick a fight with a union member.

Mirelli is the dirtbag with the towel over his shoulder at 5:55-6:58.

It depends on your ideological goggles and priorities. If you are unconcerned about the alleged crimes of wall street, the financial institutions and the failure to investigate and prosecute the crimes (if crime happened and I think it clearly did, JMO) then OWS is silly and absurd.

The tea party, though somewhat dubious as far as grass roots go, have a legitimate right to speak out and I didn't like that they were dismissed by those who did not agree with them.

FWIW, I don't have a problem with making fun of or mocking either group. Those are legitimate forms of expression also. I think the incessant "occutard" and posting of anecdotes as if they are proof of something is boring and, IMO, intellectually lazy and intellectually dishonest.

Well here's what I see the difference as: OWS was protesting a real thing in corporate criminality and wealth inequality. The Tea Party wanted to "take back America." From who? To make it what?

So to me it seemed like one was asking for policy changes while the other wanted to wage some sort of culture war.

Biogotry is opposing someone based on who they are (race, creed, color, gender) and not on what they do. I oppose the Occupiers based on what they do.
Protest? Civil disobedience? Why? America has a proud tradition of protest and civil disobedience. Our country was founded on it.

I think that was referring to the "tard" part, not the "occu".

Smell.

Also this bit about bigotry and an accusation of egotistical name-calling... No. These people are actually just retarded. A physical abnormality, a philosophical blind-spot, an emotional blockage, it really doesn't matter. These people are decidely less advanced, esp. mentally, than is usual for one's age.

For example

John Fox (Little Bear), who’s been here leading sage smudges got one of the best responses of the day when he told occupiers, “I have a message from the spirits we have communicated with that you are on the right track. Each day we will continue despite what’s said out there because we have been given the blessing to continue the work we started last Saturday."

Hey maybe not all of the OWS members believe in spirit channelling I get it. But when things like this are getting people fired up at the rally, it's safe to laugh.

I love it. And hey, maybe not all Republicans reject evolution, maybe they don't all pray for rain, maybe some of them even know that we don't have an embassy in Iran.

According to reports, Bachmann applauded the U.K.’s move, adding, “That’s exactly what I would do [if I were president]. We wouldn’t have an embassy in Iran. I wouldn’t allow that to be there.”
But by god, have you ever seen such a group of clowns. Yeah, if that's your standard then I'm damn glad I left the GOP. :)

I continue to think that Bachman is running still only because someone out there has bad pictures of her that would be released otherwise.
