And the boats keep coming

He may have his asylum application knocked back because he's not from the Middle East or Afghanistan. Only very few unlucky ones from those shores are ever knocked back. And then they appeal at our cost.

But you dont have a problem with the genuine refugees from those parts of the world do you amb, despite you saying you hated all people from muslim countries ? Just wanted clarification.

He'd have his asylum application knocked back because he wouldn't meet the criteria under the Refugee Convention.

Only very few unlucky ones from those shores are ever knocked back. And then they appeal at our cost.

So you think that they shouldn't be permitted to have their application reviewed?

No one has answered the over population problem we face in this country in particular and the world at large. Control population growth, and there would not be an asylum problem.

There is absolutely no evidence of over population in Australia now or in the future. This is a preposterous claim.

In fact, the opposite is likely to be the case unless we increase our immigration. We are well below fertility replacement rate, and no immigration will lead to a very old, and diminishing population (just look at Japan). Instead of that loon, Dick Smith, read demographer, Bernard Salt, who knows what he's talking about and has facts to back him up.

I know your tongue is firmly in cheek, but for the benefit of lurkers, Australia is a nation of immigrants, and welcomes people from different cultures. It might take several years (southern Europeans and Asians were not universally welcomed initially) but I'm proud of our multi-cultural cities, particularly Melbourne. I'm not saying that racism and bigotry doesn't exist (witness some of the contributions to this thread) and some country towns are hives of rednecks, but by and large Australia accepts immigrants.

Correction. AU politicians, especially from the left, accept indiscriminate migration, the general population have little say.

I'm jumping through hoops you wouldn't believe! It's also costing me A$2000 for a visa that most countries offer at little-to-no cost as I'm married to a citizen of the country. Seriously, your accusation that immigration is "indiscriminate" appears to me to be wildly inaccurate. They is discriminating the hell out of me.

Where do you live?

Why not aim for a future population of a hundred million in Australia, so this country can become as bad as an African banana republic. :boggled:

I didn't really expect you to address my point, so I'm far from disappointed.

They have to keep the likes of you out so more room can be allocated to so called asylum seekers.

I'm just disappointed that the government didn't adopt this policy in the 50s and 60s to keep those southern European leeches out.

Ah, but no, they were probably proper asylum seekers.....

They were not farking asylum seekers. They migrated here in an orderly fashion.

Sydney and Melbourne have enormous density problems you...................

Yeah? Where? Which parts, and by comparison to where?

Funny, but heaps of people would love to live in Richmond or Paddington, hellholes that they are. Posting about something you know precious little about is not a good idea on this forum.

I should add to my previous post, that there are a heap of country towns with falling populations which would kill for immigrants.

Ok, just to humour you, what exactly are these enormous density problems? Now I dont want your opinions, or reference to pub buddies, or what 'the man in the street thinks'. I want actual facts.

George Orwell's 1984 is alive and well it appears. Force people to live in fly infested country towns whether they like it or not. :p
