New Rick Perry ad - He'll end Obama's war on religion

Rick Perry's motto must be, "When you reach rock bottom, start blasting with dynamite".

His latest stupidity? Obama is waging a "War on religion". His evidence? Gays can serve openly in the military. Kids can't pray in school.

I'm guessing that as president, he would overrule the courts, throw out the Constitution and turn the US into a theocracy. If he gets as much as 5% in any primary, it will be a miracle. But then, God supports him, so I guess that's what he's counting on.

That's right, students should be allowed to pray in school - and they are! Some people act and argue as though students were not permitted to pray in school, but there is no truth to this. At best, they are confusing the difference between official, state-sponsored, state-mandated prayers led by school officials and personal, private prayers initiated and said by the student. At worst, people are being deliberately deceitful in their claims.

The Supreme Court has never held that students cannot pray in school. Instead, the Supreme Court has ruled that the government cannot have anything to do with prayer in schools. The government cannot tell students when to pray. The government cannot tell students what to pray. The government cannot tell students that they should pray. The government cannot tell students that prayer is better than no prayer.

Yeah, because of the two groups, gays and Christians, it's the Christians who have fewer rights in this country!

I'm really REALLY hoping that Perry will make such a complete idiot of himself that Texans will rethink having him as a governor. I always new he was corrupt and slimy, but I never realize he was so abysmally stupid. I guess that's because the Governor of Texas doesn't have a lot of power.
 
There's really no excuse for this one. Who the hell thought this would be an effective campaign ad? This isn't just the least effective political ad ever made, this is pure political suicide. If he didn't want to run for president, he should have bowed out gracefully, not by doing this.
 
I think it would appeal to lots of people who think that Christians are being persecuted in the US and don't think that gays should have equal rights.

It's not like that Herman Cain ad (or I might be thinking of a different one, it's the one with the smoking guy).

I've been wondering for a while now what the reaction from people like Perry would be if instead of going to one knee uttering a quick prayer, he went to both facing east and uttered Allah hu Akbar...
