3 rules to happiness

Find out what makes you happy, and keep doing that.

This is just not good enough. The OP is a three-step guide to happiness. The above is a two-step guide to happiness.

Let's cut to the chase and give the zero-step answer:

We will never be happy for any significant length of time during our miserable little lives, so let's stop fooling ourselves (and making ourselves even more miserable in the process) that there's a way to achieve this mythical state of perpetual happiness and instead embrace 'slightly dissatisfied most of the time'.

;)

I'm single again and plan to stay that way.

OP really missed the mark.
I've been in a relationship with the same person for 19 years, no plans to marry.
Oh and why does the OP omit cats? I feel they should be in any plan for happiness.

3 rules to happiness:

1) Vodka
2) Bacon
3) Cigarettes

My 3 keys to happiness:

1. getting laid
2. getting paid
3. not having aids

My three rules:
  1. Care about others.
  2. Accept that there are people who believe differently than you.
  3. Don't take anything too seriously.

Sex, money, drugs?

Well if we're all doing three item lists, there must be room for the old classic:

  1. Tight pussy
  2. Loose shoes
  3. A warm place to ****
with added

Mine died.

Cats are the most important source of happiness.

These are the three keys to happiness:

1. Your Spouse. Most important decision of your life. Your spouse or significant other. Of all the most important decisions imaginable, nothing is more important than this and unfortunately, this decision must be done at a time when you are young and inexperienced. Looks always fade, but personality is for a lifetime. I have been married three times and my early life was a living hell. I finally married someone for inner beauty and man did it pay off. No fighting. Laughter every day. I get on my knees and thank Goodness that I have her in my life and I want everyone to experience this kind of happiness. And I am an atheist, she a devout Jehovah Witness. And somehow it works.

2. Become a vegetarian, better yet a vegan. Sounds wierd, but its true. When your healthy, your happy. Heart disease would be extinct if we all were vegans. Obesity would be rare. We are killing ourselves and worse than that, we are chronically ill for much of our later years...due to our overindulgance in meat, dairy, oil, simple carbs. I really never believed in being a vegan until I saw "The Last Heart Attack" special on TV. It was based on Dr. Cauldwell Essyslstein's book. He claims that you can completely prevent heart disease and even reverse and treat heart disease with a vegan diet. So does Dr. Cornish and many other medical experts are slowly getting on the bandwagon. After being a vegan for a while I lost 25 pounds, ate all I wanted, and feel so good at 53 I almost feel guilty. And thanks to my arteries not being so blocked I no longer have a problem making my sexy wife happier too.

3. Be unselfish. At first glance, being selfish seems like the smart thing to do. Making money, chasing women, buying myself nice things, impressing others with my accomplishments. But in the end, all that is an empty feeling and does not lead to happiness. Being faithful to my partner, giving to charities, helping a neighbor in need... it leads to happiness in a big way. I guess when we stray from reality we get hurt and being unselfish must have some basis in reality. Reality does say some day we die and we are ultimately expendable,,,spend as much time as you can thinking of others and as little time as you can thinking of some expendable entity such as yourself and even though you shouldn't want a reward,,,, in the end you get a nice reward,,,,its called just being happy.

Peace out.

4: Lightsabers.

1; Crush your enemies.

2; See them driven before you.

3; Hear the lamentations of their women.

Your milage may vary, depending on how furry your boots are...

Depends. What could be considered a "healthy" diet varies from person to person.

I dont drink much milk, because it makes me feel like crap. The best diet for me is mainly animal protein with a small amount of vegetables.

Actually, just to follow up on my own post, the best Ive ever felt was when I managed to eat nothing but meat and eggs for 6 months.

I was taking a multivitamin to compensate obviously.

Three Rules to Happiness:

1. Do not listen to people who claim to know the Three Rules to Happiness.

2. Oh. Well, crap, never mind.

I agree with 1, and most of 3, but there are times when you DO need to be selfish.

I would add Vodka and bacon as suggested by TheRedWorm. There are very few problems and worries that cannot be alleviated by a deep filled bacon sandwich.

Also music. I cannot, and do not want to, imagine a world without music to keep me sane.

I'm pretty sure this is in Ecclesiastes:

Ass, Grass or Cash...no one rides for free.
