I know Americans don't generally understand irony, but this thread is about a book, that I have read, and you have not.

it contains a 1 hour 10 minute (live) presentation given by a profoundly successful asset manager on his 3rd appearance at the http://americatalyst.com conference, as the world edges closer to his calls day by day, and an ex member of the IMF who slowly and inexorably edges towards Kyles world views day by day.

the video is on topic. you, are not.

but it must be nice to know everything already

To repeat, videos take too long to impart their information. To understand this, find a song whose lyrics you REALLY like. Now tell someone else, "This song has GREAT lyrics!" and play it for them. The interminable gaps between the words, the choruses that just repeat lyrics, and other elements of pop music will drive you nuts as you wait for your friend to absorb the content of the lyrics.

Not that I don't think it's possible for lyrics to be powerful. But they, like videos, have a habit of unfolding quite slowly in comparison to how fast someone can read text.

In the case of youtube education, it is also easier to pull the wool over someone's eyes with clever editing. Loose Change is a great example of this. If you turn off your brain and watch it, it can be quite convincing. It's only when you start to think about it that you realize it's a bunch of hooey.

Sorry, but like Scrut, I am not impressed by a bunch of youtube links which are presented as arguments. If the arguments are so damned good, paraphrase them in text for us.

lots of people paid good money to attend the conference to hear him speak.

I understand your reticence, what with your 911 experiences, but I do not link to loose change type videos.

if you and Scroat cannot be even be bothered to start it and see if it draws you in, then you are utterly deluded if you think I am going to waste a moment more of my time trying to transcribe a one hour video to attempt to convince you of anything.

I will say it once more, not watching is your loss.

Well, we have mostly austerity taking place in Europe, and it's not doing any good for any of those countries GDP, and even less for living conditions.

Yet, we have ideas from an event 70 years ago that could very easily make things better for all. But, "this time is different", aye?

I don't have any problem with a thread to simply discuss a book, and can't imagine why anyone would.

Letting them become destitute through their stubborn ignorance, may I point out, IS AN OPTION.

I'm okay with it.
