It's interesting that the last few pages have produced far more evidence for witches than the preceding 380-odd pages contained for alien spaceships.

To be fair, witches have a far longer history to draw from that those newfangled flying saucers.

When someone's belief system or worldview is criticised or attacked, they will tend to defend it and become more entrenched. The more ology repeats and elaborates his claims in defence of his belief, the more it is reinforced.

In this situation logic and reasoning is used to support fundamentally illogical and irrational positions, and continual restatement of mistaken interpretations blocks out attempts to correct them. For example, the repeated canard that skeptics are denigrating the observers by challenging their competence - when a moment's reflection on perceptual illusions tells us that part of their fascination is that they persist even when we know they are illusory. Regardless of your competence or training, you perceive the illusion even when you know it is an illusion. You will, of course, also perceive it when you don't know that it is an illusion... it is not a question of competence or training.

Great points. I vaguely remember someone (maybe even me) posting a link to some visual illusions. I don't recall ufology responding to those, but then again I'm human and may be mis-remembering.

ufology, perhaps you would care to visit this link and explain how being a pilot or in the military would affect your perception?

The recession seems to have extended as far as Alpha Centauri. It appears that our space cousins are making cuts in their ASS Maintenance Program and the consequences are being felt by the roof of Michael's Wholesale Furniture Distributors' warehouse. :eye-poppi
