"The Republicans’ war on science and reason"

My assumptions are correct and being common knowledge, are immune from attack.

I am humbled to learn that Robert Prey is an expert not only on the JFK assassination and on the Federal Reserve and U.S. Constitution but now on the national debt and U.S. economy as well.

And, as always, he makes friends and gains admirers on any thread or forum he graces with his presence. Is there any subject he is not knowledgeable on? Our Robert, a man whose erudition is exceeded only by his modesty. A true Renaissance man!

So, we didn't pay SS tax or Medicare Tax?

Please explain.

Did YOU pay SS tax or Medicare Tax? If not, (presuming you'er a US Citizen) how did you avoid that?

Sure. But there is no lock box for any of that. It all goes into the slush fund and is not just spent, but 40 percent more than is collected is spent. We'll just bill it to our children, grand children and great grandchildren along with a hefty draft of counterfeit from the Fed after China decides the US is really just another deadbeat nation. And runaway inflation, our heritage.

Please do not post falsehoods as facts and expect to be held in especially high regard for your wisdom or integrity.

We are taxed at a givben rate up to a limiited amount of income to fund these programs, and how much we pay into ther system determines how much we draw upon retirement.

To suggest otherwise is simply a lie.

Wow! You really need to take off the blinders and get informed. It's people like you who we can thank for giving us the grinning goofus who currently inhabits the White House (occasionally).

Care to provide a link for the bit I hilited.

Well, given recent events in regards to certain other claims I inquired about, it would seem unlikely. But perhaps Mr. Prey will surprise us.

What part of "immune from attack" are you people having trouble understanding???

What he says is true because and that's good enough for god so its good enough for robert!

Yeah, I would care. Is this a kindygarten board or for gown-ups? Do you ever pay attention to the news? Do you not know about a 15 trillion debt and counting. 4 more billion more just today. Do you not know how that works? Debt means spending money we ain't got. Get it???

I couldn't have come up with more praise than that!

Nope. This is board where you are expected to back up your claims with facts not just broad claims about watching the news. You said something specific to be true. It is your job as an adult and a member of this forum to provide proof of your claimed truths or we can not have a rational discussion.

If everyone here was allowed, by the other members, to simple make assertions the conversations would be idiotic at best. I know from personal experience that the members here will ALWAYS ask for proof and it is on you to provide it. Likewise you may ask others to back up their claims.

When asked you have several choices,

1. Dodge - as you have done here. This will get you no where.

2. Divert - Which you have also done in this thread. This will get you no where.

3. Provide the proof. A novel idea to be sure!

4. Admit you were wrong and provide the actual info. This is the mark of a true man that can admit his mistakes when he makes them.

Yes, I know about how debts and deficits work. I was questioning the 40% statistic. I was also specifically questioning that in regards to specifically social security (ie the comparison of SS payroll taxes versus the amount of expenditures just on social security) not the overall budget. That should have been obvious to anybody who had more than a kindergarten understanding of the issues.

United States borrows more than 40 cents of every dollar it spends

Should be common knowledge to anyone with eyes and ears.

Dude, the money taken out of the SS trust fund is replaced with TREASURY NOTES. Have you any idea what that means?

A note is a promise to pay. Guess who pays?? It means to get paid you and your kids will have to put up the dough. It's like taking a loan out on yourself to make up for what the law promises but cannot deliver.

Not a bit of it. Those who are still deriving material benefit from the infrastructure by earning income through their own labor, or the labor of those they employ are taxed to repay the loan from the workers who came before them.

This is really simple stuff here. It shouldn't take more than a room-temp IQ to grasp this, assuming one does not allow mindless ideology to blind one.

Since Robert doesn't, apparently, accept the theory of evolution by mutation and natural selection, and, as well, doesn't accept global climate change, I wonder what he thinks of Michele Bachmann's opposition to mandatory vaccination of girls against HPPV. Granted that this statement of hers goes back to 9/13/11, I doubt she's changed her mind since then.

Here's a quote from that link:

Besides objecting to the mandatory vaccinations, Bachmann also asserted:

There’s a woman who came up crying to me tonight after the debate. She said her daughter was given that vaccine. She told me her daughter suffered mental retardation as a result of that vaccine.

What's particularly absurd about this assertion is that the earliest approval of the vaccine goes back only to 2006.

I can't believe that there is a single person in america who hasn't themselves or had a relative that has benefited from public entitlements.

My mother had her 90th birthday a few weeks ago. She's been collecting SS benefits probably longer than Robert has been alive. Medicare pays for her prescriptions and covered a recent, thankfully brief, hospital stay.

So how about it, Robert. Is my mom freeloading off the taxpayers?
