Occupy Wall Street better defend its identity

Now it's about "consumer overconsupmtion":
"Consumer overconsumption has gotten us into this mess and the economic crisis to begin with," said Dana Balitki, a spokeswoman for the Occupy Wall Street protesters. "The work we're trying to do is to get people to care about the country, to get us focused on how we can take care of each other, redirect our resources and learn how to better connect with each other."

...In Chicago, protesters are planning a round of "shopping caroling" through a downtown mall. The protesters plan to sing on all five floors of the mall and to shout a series of messages that present a problem and then its solution.

At least this time their going to offer a solution to the problem! If only I knew where they would be. Though I'm a bit puzzled as to how lowering consumption is going to help the economy.

Don't shop ye merry gentlemen,
Let our song may you stay,
Remember greed our corrupter
Was born on Black Friday.
To sell us into WalMart's power
For we are gone astray
Oh-oh buying's not the way to-oo joy, to-oo joy
Oh-oh buying's not the way to-oo joy, to-oo joy.

You better not shop, you better not buy
Better stay home, I'm telling you why
Gonna occupy the North Pole
We're sittin' in front of Santa Claus' sleigh
Elves won't be in the workshop today
Gonna occupy the North Pole
The little flying reindeer
Better not make a move
'Cause if they lay a hoof on us
Then you know we're gonna sue ...
(refrain)

Listen kiddo - I'm done talking about Sgt. PepperSpray*. If you really need to know what it was he did that I find idiotic, well....

Don't even attempt to patronize me, NoahFence.

You have posted numerous vague, generalizing assertions and opinions in this thread. I would like to know what, specifically and with details, you find idiotic about Pike's behavior.

I am curious as to why you keep avoiding answering this simple question.

Police forces use all of the items I mentioned before they'd use live ammo versus people who weren't shooting back. This needs no "judgement". It is just a statement of fact.

That line of argument presents no reason why they wouldn't then use bullets.

Your "statement of fact" is not a fact because it is not known how the US state would react to an effective revolution within its borders. It has resorted using to live ammunition against unarmed protestors in the past.

* Free for everybody to use if they'd like.
:D

( i dunno.... i thought it was funny)

It's not free. It currently retails at about $70 a bottle.

Some reviews from Amazon:

~~"Whenever I need to breezily inflict discipline on unruly citizens, I know I can trust Defense Technology 56895 MK-9 Stream, 1.3% Red Band/1.3% Blue Band Pepper Spray to get the job done! ...

It really is the Cadillac of citizen repression technology.
"

~~"I casually used this product to try to disperse a small band of non-violent campers who had locked their arms together. Although initially it seemed to be effective, it took two applications! The worst part is that the next day they multiplied exponentially! Now what?

One positive outcome, I did receive a paid vacation for my efforts.
"

~~"As to Megyn Kelly recommendation, I bought a whole can of this Pepper Spray to to replace Vietnamese Sriracha Chili Sauce , the Pepper Spray doesn't taste as good as Chili Sauce."

~~"I just love this product! It makes for a kinder, gentler America. Now, when I hear the word 'culture', I reach for my pepper spray!!! And, I save $money on bullets, which In this economy is nothing to, you'll pardon the expression, sneeze at."

I wonder if the police will regard it as a non-violent weapon should people use it against them to defend themselves against their violent attacks.

~~~~~~~
Bookitty - that's a problem.
The only way to facilitate change is to vote people in with your values. How's that supposed to happen if they support nobody?
Like that "Change We Can Believe In" sort of thing?
~~~~~~~

1) You focused on just part of one out of three stated goals. Why is that?

Standard Operating Procedure.

So now OWS is against fur, against black Friday sales or something, and against large retailers.
You get dizzy trying to keep up. :boggled:

Considering that the Walton larvae and the Koch roaches have been spending so much moneyt dismantling the middle class, perhaps as much as the banksters, I hardly find that puzzling.

Who pays employees more, WalMart or Mom & Pop?

Don't even attempt to patronize me, NoahFence.

I'll do as I please.

I have not. You find them vague simply so you can attempt to prove how wonderfully superior you are. I'm not stupid.

I am curious as to why you keep avoiding answering this simple question.

I am not avoiding it. I've answered it many times. If you can't translate it, that's not my problem. Not surprisingly you seem to be the only one with the inability to do so.

??

Again with the translation.

Okee doke.

So it's not known how they'd react, but it is known that they'd use live ammo.

How's that work, exactly? Ah, I get it. It gives you a chance to say "see, I'm right" no matter the outcome. Well played.

I have no idea what you're even doing there. Your response has nothing to do with the text you're responding to. Try reading.

Looks like the OWS has been infiltrated by the elitist warmongers.

wallmart pays minimun wage, and does not offer enough hours to class as fulltime, thereby avoiding having to pay benefits.
What Mom & Pop stores offer full-time hours with benefits?

You've never worked at a small retailer, have you?

I guess they're using the same logic as they had when they decided to interrupt harbour activities in Oakland.
