Are Agnostics Welcome Here?

Not at all.

Someone who uses 'g-d' rather than 'god' is either exhibiting or catering to superstitious beliefs, neither of which is acceptable to me.

I want nothing to do with such people, unless they are remarkably good-looking guys or able to make me laugh. Interesting intelligence and/or integrity is not to be expected in people who use 'g-d'.
Meh, it could just be lingering cultural baggage; post-Catholicism I noticed a myself doing or thinking a few things just out of habit.

What a pretentious, arrogant post.

Possibly, but it didn't annoy me as much as the fact as it was from someone joining the thread when it was already several pages long, and replying to early posts which had already been answered days ago.

I was defending his right to an opinion, which I still believe was directly related to the original post. You didn't even attempt to address his argument; he was simply "pretentious and arrogant."
I previously agreed that he had a right to his opinion, as I do to mine. I didn't find an argument in his post, however, only some slams.

Also, I do think you can respect a person and their right to an opinion, while at the same time honestly saying that you find that opinion illogical or inconsistent. My main point was that her words don't seem to jibe with her professed belief in agnosticism, and casts doubt on the sincerity of that claim.
I agree that you can respect a person while disagreeing with them. Complexity didn't do that. In both his posts, he showed no respect for either the person or the person's right to an opinion in the way he chose to disagree with their opinion.

That doesn't mean that I don't welcome her viewpoint. Expressing my opposition to her viewpoint is not disrespect, in my opinion. You seem to find it arrogant. To me, that seems to represent an intolerance for differing opinions, even while you angrily defend hers. This cognitive dissonance is the only reason I called you arrogant as well, because you didn't seem to see that you were exhibiting the very traits for which you criticized him.
What I found arrogant were the assumptions Complexity made and the words he used, not the fact that he disagreed with her beliefs. Saying about a poster that "Interesting intelligence and/or integrity is not to be expected in people who use 'g-d'" because of your "opposition to her viewpoint" is not simple disagreement. It is definitely disrespectful, pretentious, and arrogant.

I agree, this is a pretentious, arrogant post.
Your are as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine; they have equal validity. You are also entitled to express it the same way I did, even though you object when I do that.

Possibly, but it didn't annoy me as much as the fact as it was from someone joining the thread when it was already several pages long, and replying to early posts which had already been answered days ago.
I think that Complexity was actually replying to the reply to his first post. He probably doesn't read the thread that often.

Out of nature or out of creation? You don't seem to have a coherent line of thought, as usual. I would also bet a fair amount of money you have no idea what AI means outside of science fiction.

Again, if there was a creation to begin with, you don't get to bring up "from nature". In that case everything is "from creation". Get it?

Just like us.
I have already explained why I see "creation" as in "first cause" as a nonsense.

Humanity and its creations are evidence of intelligent creators/manipulators occuring in nature.

From the limited perspective of the human mind, humanity cannot say what does or does not exist. Humanity can only comment on what appears to be.

However humanity can observe the activity of intelligent creators/manipulators and consider the phenomena of things emerging naturally as a direct result of a thinking mind.

Complexity didn't respond <snipped just because>

I always give my opinions, solicited or not, without cushioning or understatement (unless I am addressing someone that I do not think can handle this amount of blunt honesty).

My goal is to show respect to those worthy of respect and show disrespect to those who are not worthy.

The OP writer's behavior was inconsistent with her words. I pointed that out sharply enough to break through her smiling facade.

I don't remember having any interactions with you, but I find your posts in this thread to be amusing and disappointing. Rail away...

I retract my statement, having checked back through this thread and his other recent postings, and apologise to Complexity. I'm not sure where I got the impression from.

I'm a bit confused, but that is my normal state of affairs.

Your apology is enthusiastically accepted, though I'm not sure what it is for.

I could go back and check, but no one ever offers me an apology, and ignorance is bliss in this situation.

I stayed away for quite a while because I honestly found myself getting angry when reading some of this thread. I need to respond at this point. For those of you thinking that I prefer to spell God "G-d" out of fear, that is your own personal bias. I have explained numerous times on this very thread my beliefs, but to reiterate: I am agnostic but hopeful. Lately I've been leaning more towards theism than atheism, while in the past I was in the completely opposite direction. I do not spell God "G-d" out of fear but out of respect for something incredible that I sincerely hope is out there. For anyone to call this superstition is YOUR personal bias for last I've checked, G-d has not been proven or disproven. As for those of you who would consider anyone who spells God "G-d" as unintelligent, that is your right. However, I would feel likewise; someone who so casually labels someone as unintelligent is incredibly arrogant and ignorant.

Exactly. That behavior is not respectful. There is a difference between "You're a moron because" and "I disagree because". I had to stay away from this thread for a bit as I was getting bombarded with far too many disgustingly arrogant and angry posts. I am more than happy to debate with people who have completely opposing views to mine. However, as I try my best to do so respectfully, I can only ask for the same.

I don't understand how spelling it that way conveys respect but you're under no obligation to me to explain why you think it does. It would be nice if you did though.

If you want to be regarded as having an "interesting intelligence", then behave in a manner consistent with one.

(and take some care to quote me appropriately)

I stand by my previous posts.

Listen carefully.

I don't respect your views on religion.

I am trying to destroy religious belief and you aren't being very cooperative.

Please try harder.

How can you respect something that you don't know exists?

If I thought for a moment that one of your gods actually existed, I'd pledge myself to interfer in its 'work' to best of my abilities and to work with others to effect its destruction.

You people believe in some truly monsterous 'gods'.

Much of the suffering on this planet has been the result of these nasty delusions.
