I hope you're not implying that the anticipation of violence against oneself justifies the violence inflicted upon oneself.
Either that or these kids were really really naive and stupid and were trying to call the bluff.
Are you serious. Are you *********** serious. What took place in that video was not "violence."
When the police go to a protest and seek out confrontation, would it be "disingenuous" to object to violence inflicted on them? Moreover, when students seek out confrontation for the sake of their cause, they need not act so scandalized when they get it. It's disingenuous.
Rainey is a former school teacher who is well known in local political circles. A self-described "old lady in combat boots," she briefly entered the 2009 Seattle mayoral race. She quit that contest, saying she was too old.
She said Wednesday she'll still be taking part in the local Occupy Seattle movement.
"I'm pretty tough, I guess."
Rainey has now been unwittingly thrust into that starring role. Protest images that become iconic show us faces in anguish, such as John Filo’s Pulitzer-winning image of the shooting at Kent State. Thankfully, no image or incident quite as violent has emerged from Occupy.
No whining, no playing the victim. She knew exactly what she was doing and what the consequences would be if she ignored the police warnings.
She's got a lot to teach the younger generation of activists.
Have any of the victims said anything since the incident? Or is all this 'crybaby' stuff just conjecture?

No kidding.
As I noted above, while I don't agree with their cause, those protestors who know what's coming and accept the consequences of their civil disobedience without all the disingenous "Why oh why are you treating us this way?" melodrama earn my grudging respect.

And, after the second viewing, I am even more impressed with the calm, professional behavior of the police and disappointed by the histronics of the student protesters.
Easy: They violently resisted arrest. Therefore the use of force was justified. Hospitalization was a justifiable consequence of the protestors' choice to violently resist arrest.
It's a YouTube protest. The bigger hissy-fit you throw, the more views you get. The sad thing is that for most of the protesters, YouTube views are an end, rather than a means.
I won't forget that you see nothing wrong with the State treating people like cockroaches, jhunter1163.
So OWS stands for driving down wages, benefits, and working conditions?
No kidding.

The usual way is to pinch the nose closed so they are forced to open their mouth to breathe. How exactly would the cops accomplish that anyway? Tell them that they've got a big pot brownie for them?

"Income inequality"? "Student debt forgiveness?" Why don't they just come out and say "We want someone, public or private sector, to give us money!" That's what this seems to boil down to.
Obviously, it does.Actually, the question should be does hiring illegals drive down wages, benefits, and working conditions?
